How much does the 2023 Honda CR-V cost?

Prices have softened 8.43% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 962 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2023 Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Honda CR-V earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its smooth ride, quality interior, and strong safety and economy. The CR-V also stands out for its comfort and cargo space, which makes it especially appealing if you want a practical family SUV that is easy to live with.

The main trade-offs are the irritating transmission and the lack of technological innovation, and the styling is more conservative than flashy. Even so, the CR-V’s roomy, everyday-friendly character makes it a strong fit if you value comfort and utility over excitement.

With 29.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful value to be found if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Honda CR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise for the CR-V’s smooth ride, quality interior, safety, and economy. That kind of feedback suggests you can count on it as a long-term daily driver.

The expert review also describes the CR-V as a refined, well-executed SUV that should hold its own in the segment. Honda’s maintenance coverage is not highlighted here, so your main ownership risk as a used buyer is making sure the vehicle has been well maintained and that any past concerns have been addressed.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Honda CR-V?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The EX-L adds leather-wrapped seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a larger touchscreen, a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a power rear liftgate, and front and rear parking sensors. Lower grades use cloth upholstery and a smaller touchscreen, and some B trims omit blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Powertrain: Gas-only models use a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque, paired with a CVT. It is strong enough for the class, but the transmission can drone under hard acceleration.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a seatbelt reminder system, a rear-seat reminder system, a driver monitoring system, and traffic sign recognition. Some B trims omit blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: Most trims get a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The EX-L upgrades to a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, wireless charging, and an upgraded eight-speaker sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says the test vehicle should see 8.4 L/100 km in combined driving, and the review route returned 8.1 L/100 km.

Which 2023 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2023 Honda CR-V is offered in 4 trim levels: LX-B, Sport, EX-L, Touring Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• LX-B: This is the entry point, but it is also where you give up some convenience and safety equipment compared with higher grades. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live with the simpler feature set.
• Sport: This trim adds more equipment than the LX-B and sits in the middle of the range, making it a sensible step up if you want a better balance of features and price.
• EX-L: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it brings the larger touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, wireless charging, leather upholstery, and parking sensors while staying focused on the standard gas powertrain.
• Touring Hybrid: This is the top trim and the only hybrid offered in Canada. Choose it if you want the most advanced version of the CR-V and are willing to pay for it.

Honda also offers some B-series trims in Canada that omit blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, so check the exact equipment list before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Honda CR-V?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 962 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.43% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $32,161 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $32,162 CAD sits slightly below last year's $35,123 CAD.

That softer pricing trend can work in your favour if you are buying now, but it also means a future seller may need to be realistic about expectations. If the market stays near current levels, you should not expect a dramatic rebound in value in the short term.

The CR-V’s strong reputation for comfort, utility, and owner satisfaction should help support demand when you eventually sell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2023 Honda CR-V earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a seatbelt reminder system, a rear-seat reminder system, a driver monitoring system, and traffic sign recognition. Some B trims in Canada omit blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

The review also notes that lane-centring assist can be uncertain in some highway situations and can add some artificial feel to the steering. Even so, the CR-V’s safety package is broad and well rounded for the class.

Should I buy a 2023 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.43% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 model brings a redesigned cabin, updated infotainment, and improved safety tech, plus the first Canadian availability of the hybrid powertrain.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned CR-V with updated tech and strong everyday usability, the 2023 is the right place to start. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby model year may offer similar practicality at a lower price, but the 2023 gives you the newer package and the strongest mix of comfort, space, and safety.
