Used 2023 Ford Escape for Sale nearNewmarket, ON

How much does the 2023 Ford Escape cost?

Prices have softened 9.96% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 581 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Ford Escape a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Ford Escape earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its performance, interior comfort, and modern features, and they also highlight its spaciousness, smooth handling, and commendable fuel efficiency. The expert review also points to its impressive safety and infotainment technology and its powerful engine upgrade.

The trade-offs are clear: it can feel a bit cramped, its interior materials can feel cheap, and wind noise is a concern. It also sits on the higher end of the segment on price, which makes value less compelling than the equipment list might suggest.

For you, that means the Escape makes the most sense if you want an upscale-looking, tech-forward compact crossover rather than the cheapest or roomiest option. 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2023 Ford Escape reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback also points to a vehicle that feels reliable, dependable, and practical for everyday use, with comments that suggest it’s a model people feel good about living with over time. The expert review reinforces that impression by describing the Escape’s brakes as predictable and linear, and its suspension as soft and compliant, which supports easy day-to-day driving.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright dependability and more about whether you can live with the Escape’s cabin quality and higher running costs on better-equipped versions.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Ford Escape?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim starts the line-up, while higher trims add more upscale design touches, larger wheels, and richer cabin materials. The top trims also bring a more premium look, but the review notes that some interior surfaces still feel hard and plasticky.
• Powertrain: You can find a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque, or a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. The stronger engine is paired exclusively with AWD and is better for passing and merging.
• Safety package: Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams. Co-Pilot360 2.0 adds adaptive cruise control, road sign recognition, lane-centring technology, and a surround-view camera.
• Infotainment: Lower trims get an 8-inch touchscreen, while all trims can be equipped with a 13.2-inch screen, which is standard on the Platinum and ST-Line Elite. Sync 4 is included, and wireless smartphone integration is supported through the system’s modern interface.
• Fuel efficiency: The ST-Line Elite is rated at 10.2 L/100 km city, 7.6 L/100 km highway, and 9.1 L/100 km combined. A 1.5-litre FWD version returns 8.9 L/100 km city, 6.9 L/100 km highway, and 8.0 L/100 km combined.

Which 2023 Ford Escape trim should I buy?

The 2023 Ford Escape is offered in 5 trim levels: Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, Platinum, and ST-Line Elite.

Here's the short version:

• Active: This is the entry point if you want the Escape’s core design, standard Co-Pilot360 safety tech, and the lowest starting price. It makes sense if you care more about getting into the model than loading up on features.
• ST-Line: This is the value step if you want a sportier appearance without jumping too far up the price ladder. It keeps the Escape’s tech-forward personality while adding more style.
• ST-Line Select: This is the best-value trim if you want the 2.0-litre engine, because it unlocks the stronger powertrain without going all the way to the pricier upper trims.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and the larger 13.2-inch screen as standard, along with a more premium presentation.
• ST-Line Elite: This is the most fully equipped choice, with the 2.0-litre engine, standard 13.2-inch screen, and the richest feature set, but it also carries the highest price.

Co-Pilot360 is standard across the line-up, while Co-Pilot360 2.0 is the more advanced safety package on higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Ford Escape?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 581 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.96% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $26,492 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Ford Escape's resale value?

The current average of $26,780 CAD sits slightly below last year's $29,741 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Escape has softened enough to give used buyers more negotiating room, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment. If you buy now, you may benefit from the lower entry price, but you should not expect the same strength in resale that came with last year’s higher average. The model’s broad appeal and strong equipment list should still help support demand, especially for well-kept examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Ford Escape safe?

The 2023 Ford Escape earns five-star ratings in frontal- and side-crash tests, and four-star ratings in the rollover test from NHTSA. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety did not award it a Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ designation because it received a Marginal result in the updated side-impact test, though it earned Good scores in the other IIHS tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford’s standard Co-Pilot360 suite includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams. Co-Pilot360 2.0 adds adaptive cruise control, road sign recognition, lane-centring technology, and a surround-view camera.

The main safety caveat is the IIHS side-impact result, which is worth keeping in mind if safety is your top priority.

Should I buy a 2023 Ford Escape or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines strong tech, available power, and a refreshed design.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $28,506 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $26,780 CAD average.
• It carries on without major changes after the 2023 refresh.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the better pick if you want the strongest mix of price relief, equipment, and owner satisfaction. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2023 also gives you a better chance of finding a deal without giving up the Escape’s core strengths.
