CarGurus Analysis: 2023 Chevrolet Traverse
Summary
With 23 currently listed for sale near Ottawa, ON and an average price of $35,622 CAD, 39.1% of 2023 Chevrolet Traverses for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse 5 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2023 Chevrolet Traverse stands out as a very large crossover that prioritizes space above all else. It is described as one of the largest crossover SUVs on the market, with a roomy three-row layout and a third row that is among the largest in any crossover. That size makes it especially appealing for families who want generous passenger and cargo room without moving to a body-on-frame SUV or a minivan.
For this model year, the Traverse combines that big interior with a comfortable, easygoing character. The suspension is described as supremely comfortable and able to smooth out all but the worst road imperfections, while the tech is said to be intuitive and easy on the eyes. The 2023 model also benefits from the second-generation Traverse’s improved reliability compared with the original version, which helps make it a more sensible used buy than earlier examples.
There are still trade-offs. The Traverse is not a big towing machine, and its reliability record still does not lead the class. It is also noted as not being as plush inside as some rivals and as being unexciting to drive or look at. Even so, for buyers who value space, comfort, and straightforward usability, the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse has a clear and practical appeal.

I love my new 2023 Traverse! The Premier came with all the bells and whistles. I was looking for an SUV that was roomy but still got decent gas mileage. The captain’s chairs were a must along with the 3rd row, which has plenty of leg room for an average sized person, not just small children.

- Inventory: There are 141 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 13.62% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $38,139 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse's resale value?
The current average of $38,325 CAD sits slightly below last year's $44,370 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more confidently today but may also limit upside if you plan to sell soon. If values stay near the current range, future resale should remain steady rather than especially strong. The Traverse’s appeal to family buyers should help support demand, but you should still expect depreciation to matter.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2023 Chevrolet Traverse or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 26.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 13.62% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $33,404 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $38,325 CAD average.
- It offers practical space and easy-to-use tech for value-focused families.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $48,127 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $38,325 CAD average.
- It adds more standard safety tech and a larger touchscreen.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, owner satisfaction, and current market softness, the 2023 is the primary path to consider. If your priority is spending less, the 2022 is the better value-focused alternative. If you want newer features and a more modern cabin, the 2024 is worth the extra money.
