Used 2022 Volkswagen Taos for Sale nearCornwall, ON

How much does the 2022 Volkswagen Taos cost?

Prices have softened 12.34% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 305 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for shoppers comparing prices and trims.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Taos a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Volkswagen Taos earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the roomy interior, excellent gas mileage, and peppy around-town performance. Many also like the quality and handling, which helps the Taos feel more upscale than its price suggests.

That lines up with its role as a practical, affordable crossover that sits between small and compact SUVs, giving you extra space and utility without moving up to a larger vehicle. With 24.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market also offers some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Taos reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, with repeated praise for the Taos’s roomy cabin and efficient everyday use. The expert road test also describes it as a strong value proposition with rewarding ride and handling, which supports confidence in day-to-day ownership.

Volkswagen backs it with a 4-year/80,000-kilometre warranty and 24-7 roadside assistance for the same period. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that reported turbo lag, transmission behaviour, and some convenience-feature omissions may affect satisfaction more than durability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Volkswagen Taos?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model is the most stripped-down version, while Comfortline and Highline add more of the features many shoppers will want. The base trim misses several convenience and safety items that appear higher up the range.
• Powertrain: Every Taos uses a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel-drive models use an 8-speed automatic, while 4Motion AWD models use a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission; the AWD setup also brings an independent multilink rear suspension.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on Comfortline and up. Automatic high beams, rain-sensing wipers, rear parking sensors, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, Travel Assist, Emergency Assist, dynamic road sign display, and remote start are reserved for Highline, with some requiring an extra-cost package.
• Infotainment: Trendline gets a 6.5-inch touchscreen, while Comfortline and Highline use an 8-inch display with MIB3 software. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto start on Comfortline, and Highline adds navigation plus an eight-speaker BeatsAudio system.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says the 4Motion model uses 8.5 L/100 km combined, and testing returned 8.7 L/100 km.

Which 2022 Volkswagen Taos trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volkswagen Taos is offered in 3 trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline, Highline.

Here's the short version:

• Trendline: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Taos formula at the lowest price, but you give up a lot of the safety and convenience equipment that makes the model more appealing. It suits you best if you want the lowest-cost way into the nameplate and can live with a simpler feature set.
• Comfortline: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the key safety equipment, the larger 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM with 360L, voice control, and wireless charging. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to target.
• Highline: This trim adds the most upscale cabin touches, navigation, BeatsAudio, and extra safety and convenience features such as automatic high beams, rain-sensing wipers, rear parking sensors, lane-keeping assistance, Travel Assist, Emergency Assist, dynamic road sign display, and remote start. It makes sense if you want the most complete Taos and are willing to pay for it.

Some of the most desirable safety features are only available on Comfortline and Highline, while several advanced driver-assistance items require the Highline and an extra-cost package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Volkswagen Taos?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 24.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 305 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.34% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,204 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Volkswagen Taos's resale value?

The current average of $22,204 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,330 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Taos has become more accessible for used buyers, which can make it easier for future sellers to attract attention if the market stays active. At the same time, softer pricing means you may not recover as much as early owners paid when the vehicle was newer.

Because the Taos has a practical cabin, strong owner satisfaction, and broad appeal as a small SUV alternative, it should continue to draw interest from value-focused shoppers. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Taos safe?

The 2022 Volkswagen Taos earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Volkswagen’s driver-assistance suite includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, Travel Assist, Emergency Assist, dynamic road sign display, automatic high beams, rain-sensing wipers, rear parking sensors, and remote start, but several of those features are limited to higher trims or an extra-cost package.

A notable caveat is that the test vehicle’s reverse automatic braking reacted unexpectedly in a driveway scenario, although the feature can be turned off in the infotainment system.

Should I buy a 2022 Volkswagen Taos or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 24.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It offers a roomy, practical crossover package with strong value and useful safety tech.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $24,062 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $22,204 CAD average.
• It adds more standard safety features and equipment.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2022 is the stronger buy because prices have eased and inventory is available. If you’re willing to spend more for added standard safety equipment, the 2023 is the better secondary path.
