Used 2022 Volkswagen Atlas for Sale nearWaterloo, ON

How much does the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas cost?

Prices have softened 17.38% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 310 listings available, which gives you a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

It is built around space and everyday usefulness, with a comfortable cabin, a spacious third row, and plenty of cargo space. That makes it a strong fit if you want a family-sized SUV that prioritises practicality over flash.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, fuel economy is poor, and the interior materials feel cheap. Even so, the Atlas’s roomy layout and useful three-row packaging give it a straightforward appeal for shoppers who value utility first.

With 33.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is a decent amount of market value to be found.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Atlas is positioned as a practical, comfort-focused three-row SUV, and its overall formula supports that mission well. The expert assessment also points to a vehicle that delivers on space and usefulness, even if it does not lead the class in refinement.

Its powertrains are described as workable but not especially polished, and the turbocharged engine needs premium fuel to achieve its output. That means long-term ownership can be more about accepting compromises than enjoying standout mechanical sophistication.

For used buyers, the main ownership risk is that the Atlas’s strengths in space and utility may be offset by ongoing frustration with efficiency and refinement.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Volkswagen Atlas?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Trendline gives you the essentials, but it also has a tiny 6.5-inch touchscreen and last-generation infotainment. Higher trims add more premium equipment, with the Execline bringing the most upscale look and the strongest feature set.
• Powertrain: The Trendline, Comfortline, and Highline use a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 235 horsepower and standard 4Motion all-wheel drive. The optional 3.6-litre V6 is standard on Execline and offers more towing capacity, but it is still described as leisurely and less refined.
• Safety package: Front Assist, Side Assist, and Rear Traffic Alert are standard, while Comfortline adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go plus front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking. Highline adds brighter LED headlights with automatic high-beam operation and adaptive front lighting, and Execline adds Area View and Park Assist.
• Infotainment: All but the Trendline get the next-generation MIB3 system with an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, and Car-Net connected services. Highline adds a 10.25-inch digital display, while Execline gets a 12-speaker Fender premium audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbocharged 2.0-litre is rated at 10.6 L/100 km in combined driving, while the V6 is rated at 12.2 L/100 km combined.

Which 2022 Volkswagen Atlas trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas is offered in 4 trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline, Highline, and Execline.

Here's the short version:

• Trendline: This is the value starting point if you mainly want the Atlas’s space and practicality, but it comes with the smallest 6.5-inch touchscreen and the older infotainment setup. It still gives you the core safety tech, so it makes sense if you want the lowest entry point and can live without the nicer cabin tech.
• Comfortline: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking, and the newer MIB3 infotainment system. It also opens the door to the optional V6, which gives you more flexibility if you want stronger towing ability.
• Highline: This trim is the sweet spot if you want a more polished daily experience, thanks to the larger 10.25-inch digital display, navigation, and upgraded lighting. It is the trim to target if you want a better balance of equipment and price.
• Execline: This is the most fully equipped version, with the V6 standard, 21-inch wheels, Area View, Park Assist, and the Fender premium audio system. It suits you if you want the most features and do not mind paying for them.

The safety package starts with Front Assist, Side Assist, and Rear Traffic Alert, then expands as you move up the range.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Volkswagen Atlas?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 310 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.38% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $31,554 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas's resale value?

The current average of $31,734 CAD sits slightly below last year's $38,408 CAD.

That drop suggests the Atlas has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means a future seller may face a softer market than owners saw a year ago. If you buy now, you are entering at a lower price point, which can help cushion depreciation later. The Atlas’s practical appeal should still support demand, especially for shoppers who want a roomy three-row SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas safe?

The 2022 Atlas does not earn a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and it gets four-star ratings for the driver and front passenger in frontal-impact tests from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Front Assist includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, and automatic emergency braking. Side Assist is a blind-spot monitoring system, and Rear Traffic Alert adds rear cross-traffic alert. Comfortline adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability plus front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking, while Highline adds brighter LED headlights with automatic high-beam operation and adaptive front lighting. Execline adds Area View and Park Assist.

One caveat is that Lane Assist can be overly sensitive to old pavement markings and exit ramps, which can make it behave inconsistently in some driving situations.

Should I buy a 2022 Volkswagen Atlas or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.38% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 keeps the roomy, practical three-row formula that defines the Atlas.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $27,799 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $31,734 CAD average.
• It is a straightforward family hauler with limited changes for the model year.

The bottom line: If you want the better current-market balance of price, inventory, and feature content, the 2022 is the stronger pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path.
