Used 2022 Volkswagen Atlas for Sale near Ontario

How much does the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas cost?

Prices have softened 17.35% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 284 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

The Atlas stands out for its size and practicality, with a comfortable cabin, a spacious third row, and plenty of cargo space. That makes it a strong fit if you want a family-focused SUV with room to spare.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, fuel economy is poor, and the interior materials feel cheap. Even so, the Atlas’s everyday usability and generous packaging make it appealing if space matters more to you than polish.

Only 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market looks selective rather than broadly discounted.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Atlas is described as a straightforward, family-oriented SUV that focuses on comfort, cargo space, and utility. Its expert assessment also points to a practical, roomy package that was updated recently enough to carry forward a more modern formula for 2022.

On the dependability side, the turbocharged four-cylinder is described as needing premium fuel to achieve its outputs, and the V6 is called an older design with a gritty note and granular feel. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Atlas’s mechanical and refinement compromises may be more noticeable as mileage builds.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Volkswagen Atlas?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Trendline is the most basic version, with a tiny 6.5-inch touchscreen and last-generation infotainment system, while higher trims add more equipment and a more premium feel. The Execline brings R-Line design elements and 21-inch alloy wheels, but those wheels can contribute to a tauter ride.
• Powertrain: The Trendline, Comfortline, and Highline use a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 235 horsepower and standard 4Motion all-wheel drive. The Comfortline and Highline can also be had with the 3.6-litre V6, and the Execline gets the V6 as standard.
• Safety package: Front Assist, Side Assist, and Rear Traffic Alert are standard, while Comfortline adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go plus front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking. Highline adds brighter LED headlights with automatic high-beam operation and adaptive front lighting, and Execline adds Area View and Park Assist.
• Infotainment: The Trendline uses a 6.5-inch touchscreen, while other trims get an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, and Car-Net connected services. Starting with Highline, the digital cluster expands to 10.25 inches, and Execline adds a 12-speaker Fender premium audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbocharged 2.0-litre is rated at 10.6 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, while the V6 is rated at 12.2 L/100 km in combined driving.

Which 2022 Volkswagen Atlas trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas is offered in 4 trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline, Highline, and Execline.

Here's the short version:

• Trendline: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Atlas’s core space and practicality at the lowest price. It is best if you want the roomiest possible family SUV and can live with the simpler 6.5-inch touchscreen and older infotainment setup.
• Comfortline: This is the best-value trim if you want a better balance of equipment and price. It adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking, and the option of the V6.
• Highline: This trim adds a more upscale tech and lighting package, including a 10.25-inch digital cluster, navigation, LED headlights with automatic high-beam operation, and adaptive front lighting. It suits you if you want a more polished daily driver.
• Execline: This is the top trim, with standard V6 power, R-Line design elements, Area View, Park Assist, and the Fender premium audio system. It is the right pick if you want the most fully equipped Atlas.

Safety equipment expands as you move up the range, with Comfortline, Highline, and Execline adding more driver-assistance features beyond the standard suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Volkswagen Atlas?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 284 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.35% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $31,525 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas's resale value?

The current average of $31,607 CAD sits slightly below last year's $38,241 CAD.

That drop suggests the Atlas has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help demand in the near term. For a future seller, it also means you may need to price competitively if you want to stand out against a fairly broad supply of listings.

The Atlas’s appeal should remain tied to its space, comfort, and family-friendly packaging. If those strengths continue to resonate with shoppers, resale value should stay supported even if the model’s fuel economy and refinement remain weaker points.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas safe?

The 2022 Atlas does not earn a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and it gets four-star ratings for the driver and front passenger in frontal-impact tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Volkswagen gives the Atlas a strong standard safety suite. Front Assist includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, and automatic emergency braking, while Side Assist adds blind-spot monitoring and Rear Traffic Alert adds rear cross-traffic alert. Automatic post-collision braking is also standard.

Higher trims add more equipment: Comfortline gets adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go plus front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking, Highline adds brighter LED headlights with automatic high-beam operation and adaptive front lighting, and Execline adds Area View and Park Assist. One caveat is that Lane Assist can be intrusive and is not easily turned off through the infotainment screen.

Should I buy a 2022 Volkswagen Atlas or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.35% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 carries forward the refreshed formula from the prior model year without major changes.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $27,356 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $31,607 CAD average.
• It offers a roomy three-row layout and a straightforward family-haulier character.

The bottom line: If you want the updated Atlas formula and are shopping the current market, the 2022 is the cleaner choice. If your priority is saving money and you can live with an older version of the same basic package, the 2021 is the more price-sensitive path.

How does the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas compare to the 2022 Ford Explorer?

Our experts score the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas 7/10 and the 2022 Ford Explorer 7.5/10. The Atlas leans harder into space and practicality, while the Explorer brings stronger power and better fuel economy on the highway. You also get more listings and a slightly higher deal share with the Explorer, but the Atlas’s lower average price may make it the easier buy if you value value over performance.
