What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Tundra?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SR is the most basic version, with an 8-inch screen, while SR5 and Limited bring more equipment and the Limited upgrades to a 14-inch touchscreen. Platinum adds more luxury content, and TRD Pro is the flagship with the most aggressive hardware and styling.

• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard and includes pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, lane-tracing assist, automatic high beams, and road sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on all but most SR and SR5 models.

Which 2022 Toyota Tundra trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Tundra is offered in 5 trim levels: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, and TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the entry point, and it gives you the new-generation Tundra experience at the lowest price. It makes the most sense if you want the redesigned truck and plan to add only the essentials.
• SR5: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because Toyota identifies it as one of the core trims, and it adds more everyday appeal without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Limited: This is the sweet spot if you want the 14-inch touchscreen and a more upscale cabin without moving into luxury-truck territory.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want more premium equipment, including the available head-up display and a more upscale feel.
• TRD Pro: This is the flagship for buyers who want the most off-road-focused hardware and the most distinctive appearance.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard across the lineup, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on all but most SR and SR5 models.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Tundra?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 185 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.71% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $47,035 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota Tundra's resale value?

The current average of $47,212 CAD sits slightly below last year's $54,089 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward from the prior year, which can help future buyers but may pressure resale returns if you sell soon. If prices continue to normalise, sellers may need to be more competitive on condition, mileage, and equipment to stand out. On the other hand, the Tundra’s strong reputation and loyal following should help support demand over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings a full redesign with a new powertrain and a major technology upgrade.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $46,981 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $47,212 CAD average.
• It offers an older, simpler Tundra formula with proven updates.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $50,788 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $47,212 CAD average.
• It keeps the newer-generation Tundra formula while refining the modern package.

The bottom line: If you want the biggest leap in design, technology, and powertrain sophistication, the 2022 is the right starting point. If price matters most, the 2021 can still make sense as a lower-cost alternative with a familiar, proven character.
