Is the 2022 Toyota Sienna a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Toyota Sienna earns a 4.75/5 user rating and an 8.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

It stands out as a hybrid minivan that keeps the successful redesign introduced for 2021, so you get a modernised family hauler with an efficiency-minded character. The overview also points to a proven setup rather than a fresh round of changes, which should appeal if you value continuity over novelty.

22.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Toyota Sienna reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Sienna’s reliability case is helped by its carryover hybrid setup and Toyota’s emphasis on a proven formula after the redesign. The hybrid powertrain is described as a welcome addition, and the battery pack carries a 10-year/240,000-kilometre warranty, which adds confidence for long-term ownership.

Toyota also backs the hybrid-related components with an eight-year/160,000-kilometre warranty, which is useful if you plan to keep the vehicle for many years. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about novelty and more about making sure the hybrid system and family-use features have been maintained properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Sienna?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LE is the most straightforward version, while higher trims add more comfort and convenience features. The XLE and above bring more upscale equipment, and the Limited sits at the top with the most premium content.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid system with two electric motors and 243 horsepower. FWD is standard, AWD is available on all trim levels except XLE, and Limited is AWD-only.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, Lane Tracing Assist, pre-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. Blind spot monitoring and Toyota’s Star Safety System are also standard.
• Infotainment: A 9-inch touchscreen is standard, along with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM, one USB media port, and six USB charging ports. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not included.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates 6.6 L/100 km city, 6.5 L/100 km highway, and 6.6 L/100 km combined for FWD models, while AWD models are rated at 6.8 L/100 km city, 6.6 L/100 km highway, and 6.7 L/100 km combined.

Which 2022 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Sienna is offered in 4 trim levels: LE, XLE, XSE, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already gives you the hybrid powertrain, the 9-inch touchscreen, and the full Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite. If you want the lowest entry price and the core Sienna experience, this is the trim to start with.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience while staying well below the top-end pricing. It also opens the door to more available equipment, including the rear-seat entertainment system and the Smart Key System.
• XSE: This trim adds a sportier look and more upscale tech options, including available Qi wireless phone charging and the available Technology Package. It suits you if you want a more distinctive Sienna without jumping to the Limited.
• Limited: This is the most premium version, with standard AWD, a 7-inch multi-information display, and the most upscale feature set. It makes sense if you want the most content and do not mind paying for it.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 and blind spot monitoring are standard across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Sienna?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 22.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 111 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.13% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $45,779 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota Sienna's resale value?

The current average of $47,378 CAD sits slightly below last year's $52,136 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the current softness means you should expect more price sensitivity from buyers unless your Sienna is especially well equipped or exceptionally clean.

The good news is that strong owner satisfaction can support demand over time, especially for a practical hybrid minivan with broad family appeal. If the market continues to value efficiency and utility, that should help the Sienna hold interest better than many less distinctive used vehicles.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Toyota Sienna safe?

The 2022 Sienna was a five-star vehicle according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and the 2021 Toyota Sienna received a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), with the 2022 model expected to match that result.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, Lane Tracing Assist lane centring, pre-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. Blind spot monitoring is also standard, along with Toyota’s Star Safety System.

The Sienna also includes 10 airbags, multiple LATCH child-seat connectors, a rear-seat reminder system, and standard tire-pressure monitoring. A spare tire is optional, and Toyota moved its location for easier and safer access.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 22.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.13% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It carries over the successful hybrid redesign with no major changes.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $41,821 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $47,378 CAD average.
• It introduced the all-new hybrid Sienna redesign.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $50,358 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $47,378 CAD average.
• It keeps the standard hybrid formula and adds a strong family-friendly identity.

The bottom line: If you want the most balanced path, the 2022 is the smart middle ground because it keeps the redesigned hybrid formula while sitting below the 2023’s average price. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2021 can save you money while still giving you the same basic hybrid concept.
