Used 2022 Toyota Highlander for Sale nearMississauga, ON

How much does the 2022 Toyota Highlander cost?

Prices have softened 7.91% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 274 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Toyota Highlander a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Toyota Highlander earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its safety, comfort, smooth ride, and quality feel, and many also like its stylish design. That lines up well with its family-hauler mission: you get space, versatility, and technology without losing a polished overall feel.

The main trade-offs are a cramped third row and some tech and seating complaints from owners, while the expert review also notes that the Highlander is more about covering the basics well than delivering excitement. For you, that means it makes the most sense if you want a practical three-row SUV for family duty rather than a sporty or especially spacious one.

With 25.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still enough market activity to find a solid example.

Is the 2022 Toyota Highlander reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a dependable, trouble-free reputation, with drivers highlighting its reliability and comfort. The expert review also reinforces that impression by describing the Highlander as a competent, reliable vehicle with modern tech and safety features.

Toyota’s five-year/100,000-kilometre powertrain warranty adds some ownership reassurance, and the overall package suggests the Highlander should be a sensible long-term used buy if you keep up with maintenance. For used shoppers, the main risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the specific vehicle has been cared for properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Highlander?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LE gives you standard all-wheel drive, 18-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, and an 8-inch touchscreen, while the XLE adds more comfort and convenience features such as a power sunroof, power liftgate, wireless charging, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. The XSE adds unique styling, 20-inch wheels, second-row captain’s chairs, and a sport-tuned suspension, while the Limited and Platinum bring the most upscale equipment. If you want the best value, the XLE is the trim that most clearly balances features and price.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-litre V6 with 295 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and standard AWD. It is strongest once you are already moving, with good passing power and composed highway manners.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense is standard, with forward collision avoidance, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, dynamic radar cruise control, lane tracing assist, traffic-sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and eight airbags are also standard, while parking sensors, a surround-view monitor, and a digital rearview mirror are reserved for higher trims or options.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, five USB ports, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not included, though the layout is straightforward and easy to use.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada figures are 11.8 L/100 km in the city, 8.6 L/100 km on the highway, and 10.3 L/100 km combined. In expert testing, the Highlander XSE returned 10.0 L/100 km.

Which 2022 Toyota Highlander trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Highlander is offered in 5 trim levels: LE, XLE, XSE, Limited, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, but it still gives you standard AWD, heated front seats, and the 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It makes sense if you want the core Highlander experience without paying for extras.
• XLE: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds a strong mix of comfort and convenience features, including wireless charging, a power sunroof, a power liftgate, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.
• XSE: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look and a sportier feel, thanks to the unique styling, 20-inch wheels, second-row captain’s chairs, and sport-tuned suspension.
• Limited: This is the upscale pick, with heated and ventilated front seats, genuine leather upholstery, the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, and the JBL premium audio system.
• Platinum: This is the top trim if you want the most equipment, including a 360-degree parking camera, heated second-row seats, and a rearview camera mirror.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the lineup, and all trims also get blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and eight airbags.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Highlander?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 25.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 274 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.91% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $41,384 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota Highlander's resale value?

The current average of $41,384 CAD sits slightly below last year's $44,937 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also gives you a useful benchmark if you plan to sell later. A model that has already moved down from its prior-year average may face more price pressure if supply stays healthy and shoppers keep comparing trims and condition closely.

For a future seller, the key will be presenting a well-kept example with the right equipment and service history. Strong demand for practical three-row SUVs should help, but resale will still depend on how your specific Highlander stacks up against similar listings.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Toyota Highlander safe?

The 2022 Toyota Highlander is a Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense comes standard, and it includes forward collision avoidance, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, dynamic radar cruise control, lane tracing assist, traffic-sign recognition, and automatic high beams. You also get blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and eight airbags on every trim.

One thing to note is that the lane-departure alert with steering assist and lane-keeping assist can feel very active, and the lane-centering system may feel abrasive in some situations. Higher trims can add parking sensors, a surround-view monitor, and a digital rearview mirror.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Highlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 25.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines a standard V6, strong safety equipment, and a flexible trim range for family use.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $38,448 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $41,384 CAD average.
• It leans heavily into safety and established name recognition.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around package, the 2022 is the better target because it pairs a solid feature set with a softer price trend and strong owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the smarter value play, especially if you find one in good condition with the equipment you want.
