Is the 2022 Nissan Rogue reliable?

The Rogue’s all-new-for-2021 platform, updated powertrain, and broad trim spread point to a modern design that should age well if it has been maintained properly. The new engine and transmission are key components to inspect carefully on any used example, especially if the vehicle has higher mileage or incomplete service records.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Rogue?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S is the base trim, while the SL and Platinum add LED foglamps; the SL is the sweet spot if you want more equipment without moving all the way to the top.
• Powertrain: The 1.5-litre VC-Turbo inline three-cylinder engine makes 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque, and the new transmission is designed to improve response and efficiency.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard across all trim levels and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, high beam assist, and rear automatic braking. ProPilot Assist is available, with ProPilot Assist with Navi-Link on some models.
• Infotainment: The Rogue has a 9-inch centre infotainment touchscreen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto as standard, with wireless Apple CarPlay available on upper trim levels.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel consumption as low as 7.8 L/100 km city, 6.5 L/100 km highway, and 7.2 L/100 km combined, or 8.4/6.7/7.6 with AWD.

Which 2022 Nissan Rogue trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Rogue is offered in 5 trim levels: S, SV, SV Premium, SL, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point if you want the Rogue’s core efficiency, safety suite, and standard connectivity without paying for extras.
• SV: This trim adds more everyday convenience and is a sensible middle-ground choice if you want a better-equipped Rogue without stretching too far.
• SV Premium: Choose this if you want a richer feature set than the SV, but still want to stay below the upper luxury-leaning trims.
• SL: This is the best-value trim. It adds the 9-inch infotainment display with navigation, wireless CarPlay, and ProPilot Assist with Navi-Link without jumping to the most expensive versions.
• Platinum: Pick this if you want the most upscale Rogue, including the highest-end comfort and technology features.

Safety Shield 360 is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Rogue?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 26.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 964 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.83% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,457 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Rogue's resale value?

The current average of $22,472 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,697 CAD.

That drop suggests the Rogue is currently in a softer pricing phase, which can be helpful if you are buying now but less favourable if you plan to sell soon. For a future seller, the current market implies you may need to price competitively to stand out, especially if similar listings are plentiful.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard across all trim levels and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, high beam assist, and rear automatic braking. ProPilot Assist is available as a hands-on driver-assist system, and ProPilot Assist with Navi-Link adds navigation-linked predictive speed control.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Rogue or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 26.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a new 1.5-litre turbo engine and transmission, improving efficiency and response.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $21,162 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $22,472 CAD average.
• It was redesigned from the top down and offers broad value across the range.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $26,348 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $22,472 CAD average.
• It adds a Midnight Edition package for the SV and keeps the Rogue visually fresh.

The bottom line: If you want the updated powertrain and strong efficiency at a softer used price, the 2022 is the best balance. If price is your top priority, the 2021 is the value play; if you want the newest styling touches, look to the 2023.

How does the 2022 Nissan Rogue compare to the 2022 Mazda CX-5?

Our experts score the 2022 Nissan Rogue 7.8/10 and the 2022 Mazda CX-5 7.7/10. The Rogue brings stronger fuel efficiency, more listings, and a lower average used price, while the CX-5 asks more but remains close in expert scoring. If you want the better value and a broader inventory pool, the Rogue has the edge; if you prefer the Mazda’s pricing structure and deal share, the CX-5 is still worth a look.
