What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Pathfinder?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S, SV, SL, and Platinum trims differ meaningfully in comfort and convenience. Base models get cloth upholstery and standard eight-passenger seating, while higher trims add semi-aniline leather-appointed seats, and Platinum switches to second-row captain’s chairs for seven-passenger seating. The upper trims also bring more upscale touches, including a panoramic moonroof and roof rack on SV and higher.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-litre V6 with 284 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Standard all-wheel drive is included in Canada, along with hill descent control and seven drive and terrain modes.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard, with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, high-beam assist, rear automatic braking, driver alertness monitor, rear door alert, and forward-collision warning. Upper trims add a surround-view monitor.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and a 7-inch digital driver-information display. Upper trims get a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, door-to-door connected navigation, and a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument panel on Platinum.
• Fuel efficiency: Fuel consumption estimates from Natural Resources Canada are not published as of this writing.

Which 2022 Nissan Pathfinder trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SL, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, but it still gives you standard AWD, Nissan Safety Shield 360, an 8-inch touchscreen, and the core family-friendly package. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and can live without the extra comfort and tech upgrades.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more convenience without pushing you into the top end of the range. You get the panoramic moonroof and roof rack, while keeping the Pathfinder’s strong standard safety and tech foundation.
• SL: This trim steps up to semi-aniline leather-appointed seating and can be paired with the optional Premium package. It suits you if you want a more upscale cabin and are willing to pay for extra comfort and equipment.
• Platinum: This is the most luxurious version, with second-row captain’s chairs, a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument panel, head-up display, standard Class II tow hitch and trailer harness, and 11 airbags. It’s the right pick if you want the most features and the most premium feel.

Upper trims add a surround-view monitor, while the base S does not.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Pathfinder?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 189 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.54% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $33,363 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder's resale value?

The current average of $33,368 CAD sits slightly below last year's $38,591 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help future buyers but may temper what sellers can ask in the near term. If you own one now, the softer pricing means you may need to be more competitive when listing it. On the other hand, the Pathfinder’s broad appeal as a practical three-row SUV helps support steady demand.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder safe?

The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder was not crash-tested by either IIHS or NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard on every Pathfinder, and it includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, high-beam assist, rear automatic braking, driver alertness monitor, rear door alert, and forward-collision warning. A rearview camera is standard, and upper trims add a surround-view monitor. Ten airbags are standard, while the Platinum gets 11.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Pathfinder or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.54% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Nissan brought back much of the classic Pathfinder’s capability with a rugged-looking redesign.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $38,338 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $33,368 CAD average.
• It adds the Rock Creek edition for a tougher-looking, more rugged variant.

The bottom line: the 2022 is the better value if you want the Pathfinder’s core strengths at a lower price, while the 2023 makes sense if you specifically want the Rock Creek edition and are willing to pay more for it.
