How much does the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander cost?

Prices have softened 11.67% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 189 listings available, which gives you a useful amount of inventory to compare before you decide.

Is the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Drivers consistently praise the smooth drive, advanced features, and stylish look. The overview also points to a more modern, competitive SUV that feels relevant thanks to its redesigned packaging and shared-platform engineering. For you, that means the Outlander makes the most sense if you want a contemporary compact SUV with broad showroom appeal rather than something purely utilitarian.

The market also looks reasonably supportive, with 31.2% of listings classified as good or great deals.

Is the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers describing the Outlander positively overall. The expert review also frames it as a worthy consideration with few flaws, which supports the idea that it should be a sensible long-term choice if you buy one that has been cared for properly.

Mitsubishi also backs it with a 10-year/160,000-kilometre powertrain warranty, a five-year/100,000-kilometre standard warranty, and five years of free roadside assistance.

For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about durability and more about whether you can live with the Outlander’s quirks in ride, steering, and acceleration over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lower grades get 18-inch alloy wheels, while the higher trims move to 20-inch wheels, a head-up display, premium audio, and more upscale interior materials. The base trims are the ones most likely to leave you without the richer cabin presentation and extra convenience features, so they are worth comparing carefully against the better-equipped versions.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 181 horsepower and a CVT driving Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control AWD system. The review notes that the Outlander feels most responsive in lower-speed urban and suburban driving, but it can feel short on power when merging or passing.
• Safety package: The Outlander includes forward collision mitigation, safe reversing, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. It also uses a hands-on Level 2 driver-assist system that works with commendable refinement, smoothness, and accuracy.
• Infotainment: The 9-inch touchscreen is standard on LE and up, and it includes stereo volume and tuning knobs, Bluetooth, and wireless Apple CarPlay. Android Auto requires a wire, and wireless smartphone charging is standard above the base model.
• Fuel efficiency: The Outlander returned 9.4 litres per 100 kilometres on the test route, and the official combined rating for AWD models is 8.9 L/100 km.

Which 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander trim should I buy?

The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander is offered in 7 trim levels: ES, SE, LE, LE Premium, SEL, GT, and GT Premium.

Here's the short version:

• ES: This is the entry point, but you should treat it as the value-conscious starting line rather than the ideal buy. It gives you the Outlander’s core redesign and standard AWD, but you miss out on the richer tech and upscale touches that make the higher trims feel more complete.
• SE: This is the first trim where the Outlander starts to feel more fully equipped, and it is a sensible step up if you want a better balance of features without chasing luxury touches.
• LE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 9-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and wireless Apple CarPlay, making the cabin feel much more current without pushing you too far up the price ladder.
• LE Premium: Choose this if you want a more polished experience and are willing to pay for extra comfort and convenience beyond the LE.
• SEL: This trim is for you if you want a more upscale feel and are moving closer to the richer equipment mix that defines the upper half of the range.
• GT: This is where the Outlander’s tech story gets stronger, with the 12.3-inch digital instrumentation display and a more premium overall presentation.
• GT Premium: This is the most luxurious choice, with premium semi-aniline leather, a head-up display, and a premium sound system. It is the trim to target if you want the most upscale Outlander experience.

The safety package includes the hands-on Level 2 driver-assist system and the standard suite of collision-avoidance and lane-support features, but you should still check that the headlights on any early-build vehicle do not carry the noted Poor rating.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully rather than rush.

• Deal availability: 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 189 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.67% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $25,470 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander's resale value?

The current average of $25,472 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,838 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price, you may be starting from a more realistic valuation base than owners who purchased when prices were higher. For a future seller, that means resale performance will depend heavily on how well you control your purchase price and how cleanly the vehicle is maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander safe?

The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander earns an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover performance.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Outlander’s driver-assistance suite includes forward collision mitigation, safe reversing, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. Its hands-on Level 2 driver-assist system works with commendable refinement, smoothness, and accuracy, but you do need to keep your hands on the wheel at all times.

One caveat to keep in mind is that headlights on units built before July 2021 receive a Poor rating.

Should I buy a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.67% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It arrived as a redesigned, all-new model and marked a return to competitiveness for Mitsubishi.

The bottom line: If you want the more modern, redesigned Outlander and you value its stronger tech, styling, and overall competitiveness, the 2022 is the one to target. If your priority is simply the lowest possible purchase price, you can also shop carefully and use the softened market to your advantage.
