Is the 2022 Lexus NX a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Lexus NX earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

The redesigned NX is aimed at a young, affluent, diverse, and tech-savvy buyer, and that shows in its more modern design, stronger technology focus, and Lexus Driving Signature tuning. It also brings a more attractive and more dynamic feel than the model it replaces, while still fitting the brand’s luxury brief.

The market shows 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Lexus NX reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 NX is presented as a more attractive, more dynamic, and more technologically advanced SUV than the one it replaces, and Lexus also frames it around core brand pillars that include electrification and advanced technology. The performance notes point to a composed, capable feel, with the platform’s lower centre of gravity and reduced curb weight helping the SUV feel more settled when you drive it.

The cost-effectiveness notes also point to a strong standard equipment load for the price, which can help reduce the need to add options just to get the basics you want. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that many desirable features are bundled into packages, so you’ll want to verify exactly what equipment is on the specific vehicle you’re considering.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Lexus NX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The NX comes in base, Premium, F Sport, and Luxury trims, and the base version is the one most likely to leave you wanting more if you care about richer materials or a more distinctive look. The NX Executive Package adds real leather and open pore wood trim, while the F Sport brings a unique mesh-pattern grille, body-colour fender trim, 20-inch gloss black wheels, black mirrors, sport-bolstered seats, a black headliner, a unique steering wheel, and dark interior trim.
• Powertrain: The NX 250 uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder with 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, while the NX 350 uses a turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder with 275 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive is standard in Canada, and front-wheel drive is not offered.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is standard, with lane keep assist, lane departure warning, dynamic radar cruise control, automatic high beams, Risk Avoidance Emergency Steer Assist, Oncoming Vehicle Detection, Oncoming Pedestrian Detection, Curve Speed Management, Emergency Driving Stop System, blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and Safe Exit Assist. Some features, including rear pedestrian detection, adaptive front lighting, rain-sensing wipers, semi-autonomous parking assist with automatic braking, rear cross-traffic braking, panoramic view monitoring, front cross-traffic alert, and lane-change assistance, are offered in packages.
• Infotainment: A 9.8-inch touchscreen is standard, with a 14-inch screen available. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and over-the-air software updates are included. The system also supports Bluetooth, Voice Assistant technology, and connected services.
• Fuel efficiency: The NX 350 is rated at 9.5 L/100 km combined, and observed fuel consumption was 9.2 L/100 km for the non-F Sport and 10.6 L/100 km for the F Sport.

Which 2022 Lexus NX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Lexus NX is offered in 4 trim levels: base, Premium, F Sport, and Luxury.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the entry point, but it is the trim most likely to feel stripped back if you want a more upscale cabin or more visual presence. It makes sense if you want the NX’s core redesign, standard AWD, and standard safety and tech without stretching your budget.
• Premium: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds a more complete luxury feel without jumping all the way to the more style- or comfort-focused upper trims. If you want the NX’s modern tech and a better-equipped daily driver, this is the trim to start with.
• F Sport: Choose this if you want the most distinctive look and the sportiest setup in the lineup. It adds the mesh grille, 20-inch wheels, sport seats, unique instrumentation, and an adaptive variable sports suspension with performance dampers.
• Luxury: Pick this if your priority is the most upscale presentation and you want the NX to feel as premium as possible. It suits you best if comfort, materials, and a more polished cabin matter more than sporty styling.

Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is standard across the lineup, but some of the more advanced safety features are reserved for packages.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Lexus NX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 136 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.30% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $40,920 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Lexus NX's resale value?

The current average of $41,971 CAD sits slightly below last year's $43,855 CAD.

That softer pricing trend suggests the NX is currently more accessible to used buyers than it was a year ago. For a future seller, that can mean you may need to price competitively if you want to move the vehicle quickly. The good news is that the NX’s strong technology story and upscale positioning should help it stay appealing to shoppers who want a premium compact SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Lexus NX safe?

The 2022 Lexus NX earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

It earns a standard Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 suite that includes lane keep assist, lane departure warning, dynamic radar cruise control, automatic high beams, Risk Avoidance Emergency Steer Assist, Oncoming Vehicle Detection, Oncoming Pedestrian Detection, Curve Speed Management, and Emergency Driving Stop System. It also includes a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and Safe Exit Assist with digital-latch door releases.

Some additional safety features are available in packages, including rear pedestrian detection, adaptive front lighting, rain-sensing wipers, semi-autonomous parking assist with automatic braking, rear cross-traffic braking, panoramic view monitoring, front cross-traffic alert, and lane-change assistance. The safety package is strong overall, but some of the more advanced features are not standard on every version.

Should I buy a 2022 Lexus NX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 model year brings a redesigned NX with a stronger technology focus, a more modern cabin, and Lexus’s latest safety and driver-assistance suite.

The bottom line: If you want the newest NX design, the strongest tech story, and a more contemporary luxury feel, the 2022 is the right path. If your priority is simply getting into an NX at the lowest possible price, a nearby older model year may be worth a look, but you’ll give up some of the redesign’s polish and technology.

How does the 2022 Lexus NX compare to the 2022 Toyota RAV4?

Our experts score the 2022 Lexus NX 7.8/10 and the 2022 Toyota RAV4 8.3/10. The NX brings a more premium design, a stronger luxury identity, and a richer technology story, while the RAV4 offers a lower average used price and more listings to choose from. If you want the upscale feel and advanced cabin experience, the NX makes sense; if value and broader inventory matter more, the RAV4 has the edge.
