What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Wagoneer?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The launch lineup centres on Series II and Series III, with Series II serving as the de facto base model until Series I arrives later. Series III adds more equipment and is the better fit if you want the most upscale version, while Series II is the value pick if you want the Wagoneer experience at the lower entry point.
• Powertrain: You get a 5.7-litre V8 mild-hybrid setup with 392 horsepower and 404 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. In Canada, 4WD is standard, and the system is tuned more for on-road use in Series II, while Series III adds greater off-road capability.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. Make sure the trim you’re considering includes the driver-assist features you expect.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, dual Bluetooth phone pairing, and a 4G-LTE Wi-Fi hotspot for up to eight devices. The system also uses Uconnect 5 with over-the-air updates.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates it at 13.8 L/100 km combined, 15.6 L/100 km city, and 11.7 L/100 km highway with 4WD.

Which 2022 Jeep Wagoneer trim should I buy?

The 2022 Jeep Wagoneer is offered in 2 trim levels: Series II and Series III.

Here's the short version:

• Series II: This is the best-value choice if you want the Wagoneer’s core strengths without stretching to the top trim. It gives you the full-size cabin, the standard tech suite, and the standard safety equipment, making it the sensible starting point for most used buyers.
• Series III: Choose this if you want the more upscale, better-equipped version and are willing to pay more for it. It adds the more capable Quadra-Trac II 4WD system with a two-speed transfer case, making it the better pick if you want the most capability and equipment in the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Jeep Wagoneer?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 88 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.15% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $48,618 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer's resale value?

The current average of $48,618 CAD sits slightly below last year's $58,679 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can be helpful if you’re buying now but less favourable if you’re planning to sell soon. If you own one, the softer pricing means you may need to be more competitive when listing it later.

The Wagoneer’s strong owner satisfaction should help support demand, especially among shoppers looking for a spacious, comfort-focused full-size SUV. Even so, resale will likely depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer safe?

The 2022 Jeep Wagoneer earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assist tech includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. That gives you a solid safety baseline for a large SUV.

Crash-test ratings from IIHS and NHTSA weren’t available at the time of evaluation, so you should focus on the standard safety equipment and how well it matches your needs. If you want the most confidence, look closely at the trim’s full driver-assistance content and verify that all systems are functioning properly on a used example.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Wagoneer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Jeep’s return of the Wagoneer name gives this year a fresh launch-year appeal, with the standard model positioned as a full-size family SUV focused on comfort and technology.

The bottom line: The 2022 Wagoneer makes the most sense if you want the first year of this revived nameplate and you value its roomy cabin, strong tech, and premium-leaning feel. If you’re price-sensitive, the current market softness gives you a better chance to find a well-equipped example at a more attractive price, but you should still compare carefully against other full-size SUVs before committing.
