How much does the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe cost?

Prices have softened 25.73% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 194 listings available, which suggests a reasonable amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe earns 4/5 from users and 7.83/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

It fits buyers who want a plug-in hybrid SUV that keeps Jeep’s off-road character while adding 42 kilometres of all-electric driving. The overview also positions it as the most efficient Grand Cherokee ever, provided you keep it charged, which makes it especially appealing if you want efficiency without giving up the brand’s traditional strengths.

The market shows 35.1% of listings as good or great deals, which is a healthy sign for value-focused shoppers.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview and expert testing both point to a vehicle that blends Jeep capability with plug-in hybrid efficiency, but that combination also means you need to stay on top of charging to get the best results. The powertrain is described as efficient when charged, while cold weather and a depleted battery reduce that advantage.

If you keep it charged and maintain it properly, the ownership experience should be more rewarding than risky; if you do not, the efficiency advantage fades quickly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base 4xe is already well equipped, but the Overland adds leather seats, wood and metal accents, heated and ventilated front seats, and bronze contrast stitching. The Trailhawk is the most off-road capable trim, while the Summit Reserve sits at the luxury end.
• Powertrain: You’re looking at a plug-in hybrid setup with a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder, a 400-volt, 17-kWh battery pack, standard 4WD, and an eight-speed automatic. It delivers 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, with 42 kilometres of electric range and a total driving range of 719 kilometres.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, Intersection Assist collision mitigation, and rear parking sensors. Blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert start at Overland, and the 360-degree surround-view camera is standard on all trims but the Trailhawk.
• Infotainment: Uconnect 5 is standard, along with a 10.1-inch front-passenger touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver information display, wireless charging, and four USB ports. The McIntosh stereo starts on Overland and is not available on the base 4xe or Trailhawk.
• Fuel efficiency: The powertrain is rated at 4.2 Le/100 km in ideal conditions, but once the battery runs dry it is rated at 10.0 L/100 km. The cost-effectiveness notes also cite 4.2 Le/100 km as the figure that makes the plug-in payoff work best when you charge regularly.

Which 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe trim should I buy?

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is offered in 5 trim levels: base 4xe, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve.

Here's the short version:

• base 4xe: This is the value play if you want the plug-in hybrid system and a strong standard equipment list without stretching to the pricier trims. It already gives you the core 4xe experience, including the efficient powertrain and a comfortable cabin.
• Trailhawk: Choose this if off-road ability matters most. It is the most capable trim and is the one to target if you want the Grand Cherokee 4xe’s trail-focused character.
• Overland: This is the best-value upgrade for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale cabin, heated and ventilated front seats, and the McIntosh stereo. It also unlocks blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Summit: Move here if you want a more premium-feeling Grand Cherokee 4xe and are willing to pay for it.
• Summit Reserve: This is the luxury choice, with the highest-end positioning in the lineup.

For safety, the 360-degree surround-view camera is standard on all trims but the Trailhawk.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 25.73% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It adds 42 kilometres of all-electric driving while keeping Jeep’s off-road character.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $49,592 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $39,744 CAD average.
• It sharpens the Trailhawk’s off-road focus and drops the gas-engine Trailhawk versions.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the better pick if you want the strongest mix of price relief, plug-in efficiency, and Jeep character. If you care more about the Trailhawk’s off-road emphasis and can spend more, the 2023 is worth a look.
