CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Honda Passport
overall

Summary
With 90 currently listed for sale and an average price of $38,421 CAD, 27.8% of 2022 Honda Passports for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Honda Passport 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.67 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2022 Honda Passport stands out as a rugged-leaning two-row midsize SUV with a light restyle that gives it a tougher look. It is also the first of Honda’s SUVs to wear the TrailSport trim name, which was intended to make the Passport more appealing to buyers who like outdoor adventure. For 2022, Honda also added revised wheel designs, fresh paint colours, and new safety features.
Behind that updated appearance, the Passport’s appeal remains rooted in everyday usability. It is described as fun to drive and comfortable, with plenty of cargo space, which makes it a practical choice for buyers who want a roomy SUV without moving up to a three-row model. The trade-offs are worth noting, though: its infotainment technology is outdated, its advanced safety features are unrefined, and it does not earn top safety ratings.

All the features are awesome! Plus, I got a great deal on this vehicle! Nothing is missing from the SUV. This SUV is very similar to the Honda Pilot except for the third-row seating.

We love the Honda Passport for the amount of room inside & all the safety features it came with. I thought it was very comparible in price to the Ford Edge.

Reviewed a 2022 Honda TrailSport AWD on Nov 4, 2022
I had narrowed my search to 3 manufacturers and test drove one from each . Actually I drove two at Honda. The EXL and the Trail Sport. IMO there was definitely a different feel to the two trims. This is due to the wheel size I would imagine. The other models were the Mazda CX-5 and the Toyota Highlander. The Honda passport just has a heavier sturdier feel, more like a truck. Almost forgot, I also drove a loaner Subaru Ascent for a week. It was a nice vehicle. But still preferred the Passport. It just has a much sturdier feel to it. I am still learning all the accessories. This vehicle is impressively equipped. I can’t think of anything else I could want as far as features and accessories. Love my new SUV!

| Year-Round High | $42,683 CAD |

Prices have softened 9.76% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 93 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for you to compare.
Is the 2022 Honda Passport a good car?
Yes — with a 5/5 user rating and an expert rating of 6.67/10, the 2022 Honda Passport lands as a strong fit if you want a rugged-leaning two-row SUV with everyday usability. The Passport stands out as a light-restyled, practical model with plenty of cargo space, a comfortable cabin, and a fun-to-drive character, while still keeping the five-passenger layout that many shoppers prefer over a three-row SUV.
The model scores 10/10 across Performance and Form and function.
That said, the trade-offs are clear: its infotainment technology is outdated, and its advanced safety features are less refined than many rivals. If you value roomy utility and a more adventurous look over the latest tech polish, it makes sense; if you want a more modern interface and smoother driver aids, you may want to keep shopping.
With 31.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.
Is the 2022 Honda Passport reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Passport’s appeal is rooted in simple, proven everyday usability: it has a strong V6 powertrain, standard all-wheel drive in Canada, and a cabin that’s built around comfort and practicality. Its expert assessment also points to a robust and sophisticated drivetrain, which supports confidence in day-to-day ownership.
The powertrain is described as smooth and capable, and the model’s straightforward hardware should help keep ownership predictable if you stay on top of routine maintenance. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about living with older infotainment and driver-assist technology as the vehicle ages.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Passport?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base Sport trim gets the updated styling and plenty of standard equipment, while the TrailSport adds orange contrast stitching, amber ambient lighting, embroidered front-seat headrest emblems, unique 18-inch wheels, a purposeful roof rack, and simulated skid plates. The Touring sits at the top of the range with the most bells and whistles.
- Powertrain: You get a 3.5-litre V6 with 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive in Canada. The V6 is described as smooth and stronger than its ratings suggest, and the i-VTM4 system can send up to 70 percent of engine power to a single rear wheel when needed.
- Safety package: Honda Sensing includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centring assist. The Passport also includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights, a rear-seat reminder, and a seatbelt reminder system. Some of these systems are less refined than competitors’ versions.
- Infotainment: Every trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Satellite radio requires the TrailSport trim, while Touring adds navigation, a 10-speaker premium audio system, and HondaLink connected services with WiFi hotspot access. Wireless smartphone charging is standard on all but the base Sport trim.
- Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates it at 11.3 L/100 km in combined driving, and the TrailSport test vehicle averaged 11.0 L/100 km.
Which 2022 Honda Passport trim should I buy?
The 2022 Honda Passport is offered in 3 trim levels: Sport, TrailSport, and Touring.
Here's the short version:
- Sport: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the updated look, standard all-wheel drive, and the core Passport formula. It makes sense if you want the Passport’s space and capability at the lowest starting point.
- TrailSport: This is the best-value trim if you want the Passport’s new rugged styling and the most distinctive appearance. It adds the TrailSport-specific design touches, and it’s the trim that best matches the model’s outdoor-adventure image.
- Touring: Choose this if you want the most equipment, including navigation, the 10-speaker premium audio system, and HondaLink connected services with WiFi hotspot access.
Honda Sensing is standard, but its lane-departure warning and lane-centring assist functions are less polished than you may expect.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Passport?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have some room to shop carefully without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 93 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.76% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $37,785 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Honda Passport's resale value?
The current average of $38,597 CAD sits slightly below last year's $42,772 CAD.
That price movement suggests the Passport has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help support demand in the near term. For a future seller, the softer market means you may need to price more competitively if you want to move the vehicle quickly. On the other hand, the Passport’s roomy cabin, strong V6, and practical five-passenger layout should continue to appeal to shoppers who want utility without stepping up to a three-row SUV.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Honda Passport safe?
The 2022 Honda Passport earns five-star ratings in all but front passenger protection in a frontal-impact collision, which earns four stars, and it also gets a four-star rating for rollover resistance from NHTSA. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives it top ratings in most respects, but it does receive an Acceptable rating for front-passenger protection in a small overlap collision.
It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda Sensing is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights, a rear-seat reminder, and a seatbelt reminder system.
The main caveat is that some of these systems are less refined than you may want. The lane-departure warning can be intrusive, the lane-centring assist can feel overly active, and the adaptive cruise control is not especially smooth in heavier traffic.
Should I buy a 2022 Honda Passport or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.76% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2022 refresh brings the tougher styling, the new TrailSport trim, revised wheel designs, fresh paint colours, and new safety features.
The bottom line:
If you want the Passport with the updated look and the first TrailSport trim, the 2022 is the right year to target. It keeps the model’s strong V6, roomy cabin, and everyday usability intact, while giving you the refreshed styling and added equipment that define this generation. If you’re especially price-sensitive, though, you may want to compare listings carefully and focus on the best-equipped examples that fall near the lower end of the market.
