overall

Summary
With 103 currently listed for sale and an average price of $38,622 CAD, 28.2% of 2022 Honda Passports for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Honda Passport 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.67 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2022 Honda Passport stands out as a rugged-leaning two-row midsize SUV with a light restyle that gives it a tougher look. It is also the first of Honda’s SUVs to wear the TrailSport trim name, which was intended to make the Passport more appealing to buyers who like outdoor adventure. For 2022, Honda also added revised wheel designs, fresh paint colours, and new safety features.
Behind that updated appearance, the Passport’s appeal remains rooted in everyday usability. It is described as fun to drive and comfortable, with plenty of cargo space, which makes it a practical choice for buyers who want a roomy SUV without moving up to a three-row model. The trade-offs are worth noting, though: its infotainment technology is outdated, its advanced safety features are unrefined, and it does not earn top safety ratings.

All the features are awesome! Plus, I got a great deal on this vehicle! Nothing is missing from the SUV. This SUV is very similar to the Honda Pilot except for the third-row seating.

We love the Honda Passport for the amount of room inside & all the safety features it came with. I thought it was very comparible in price to the Ford Edge.

Reviewed a 2022 Honda TrailSport AWD on Nov 4, 2022
I had narrowed my search to 3 manufacturers and test drove one from each . Actually I drove two at Honda. The EXL and the Trail Sport. IMO there was definitely a different feel to the two trims. This is due to the wheel size I would imagine. The other models were the Mazda CX-5 and the Toyota Highlander. The Honda passport just has a heavier sturdier feel, more like a truck. Almost forgot, I also drove a loaner Subaru Ascent for a week. It was a nice vehicle. But still preferred the Passport. It just has a much sturdier feel to it. I am still learning all the accessories. This vehicle is impressively equipped. I can’t think of anything else I could want as far as features and accessories. Love my new SUV!

Is the 2022 Honda Passport a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Honda Passport earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Performance and Form and function.
It is positioned as a rugged-leaning two-row midsize SUV with a light restyle, a tougher look, and a focus on everyday usability. It is described as fun to drive, comfortable, and roomy, with plenty of cargo space for shoppers who want a practical SUV without moving up to a three-row model.
The trade-offs are that its infotainment technology is outdated and its advanced safety features are unrefined. Even so, the Passport’s strong market presence is reflected in 30.4% of listings being priced as good or great deals.
Is the 2022 Honda Passport reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Passport’s appeal is rooted in simple utility, a robust drivetrain, and a roomy, comfortable cabin. Its 3.5-litre V6, nine-speed automatic, and standard all-wheel drive give it a durable, proven-feeling mechanical setup, while the overall package is aimed at buyers who value straightforward usability over complexity.
Honda’s driver-assist and infotainment systems are described as dated and unrefined, but the core vehicle itself is presented as solid and easy to live with. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is more about ageing technology and refinement than about the basic usefulness of the SUV.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Passport?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base Sport is the starting point, while TrailSport adds a tougher look, 20.5 centimetres of ground clearance, traction management modes for snowy, muddy, and sandy conditions, unique 18-inch wheels, a roof rack, simulated skid plates, orange contrast stitching, amber ambient lighting, and embroidered front-seat headrest emblems. Touring sits at the top with the most equipment.
- Powertrain: You get a 3.5-litre V6 with 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive in Canada. It is described as smooth, strong, and well matched to the transmission.
- Safety package: Honda Sensing includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centring assist. It also adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights, a rear-seat reminder, and a seatbelt reminder system.
- Infotainment: Every trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Satellite radio requires TrailSport, while Touring adds navigation, a 10-speaker premium audio system, HondaLink connected services, and WiFi hotspot access.
- Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates it at 11.3 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, and the TrailSport test vehicle averaged 11.0 L/100 km.
Which 2022 Honda Passport trim should I buy?
The 2022 Honda Passport is offered in 3 trim levels: Sport, TrailSport, and Touring.
Here's the short version:
- Sport: This is the entry point, and it already comes with the Passport’s core strengths, including the V6, standard AWD, and the full 8-inch touchscreen setup. It makes sense if you want the Passport’s space and capability without paying for extras.
- TrailSport: This is the best-value trim if you want the Passport’s new rugged look and the most distinctive character. It adds the TrailSport-specific styling, extra ground clearance, traction management modes, and the interior and exterior details that make the refresh feel special.
- Touring: Choose this if you want the most comfort and convenience equipment, including navigation, the premium audio system, and HondaLink connected services with WiFi hotspot access.
Honda Sensing is standard, but the system’s lane-departure warning and lane-centring assist are less refined than many rivals’ setups.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Passport?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to compare listings and wait for the right price.
- Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 102 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.04% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $37,785 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Honda Passport's resale value?
The current average of $38,588 CAD sits slightly below last year's $42,423 CAD.
That decline suggests the Passport has become more accessible for used buyers, which can make it easier for future sellers to attract interest if pricing stays realistic. The current market also shows that shoppers are still responding to the model’s mix of space, V6 power, and standard AWD. If you own one and keep it in good condition, the Passport’s practical strengths should help it remain appealing to the used market.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Honda Passport safe?
The 2022 Honda Passport earns five-star ratings in all but front passenger protection in a frontal-impact collision, which earns four stars. It also gets a four-star rating for rollover resistance.
It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda Sensing is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights, a rear-seat reminder, and a seatbelt reminder system.
The main caveat is that the lane-departure warning and lane-centring assist functions are described as intrusive and less refined than many competitors’ systems. The Passport also receives an Acceptable IIHS rating for front-passenger protection in a small overlap collision.
Should I buy a 2022 Honda Passport or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.04% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2022 brings the TrailSport trim name and a light restyle that gives the Passport a tougher look.
The bottom line: If you want the Passport with its refreshed styling and the first TrailSport trim, the 2022 is the right pick. If you are mainly shopping on price, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2022 offers a strong mix of value, space, and standard equipment for buyers who want a practical two-row SUV.
