What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Odyssey?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Touring trim adds dark gray 19-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, and more premium cabin equipment, while lower trims miss some of the convenience and luxury touches that owners tend to want.
• Powertrain: Every Odyssey uses a 3.5-litre V6 with a 10-speed automatic and front-wheel drive, and there is no all-wheel-drive or electrified option.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rear-seat reminder. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are reserved for Touring.
• Infotainment: Starting with EX-L Navi, you get an 8-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, Bluetooth, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Touring adds HondaLink connected services with WiFi hotspot access, CabinWatch, CabinTalk, and a rear entertainment system with a 10.2-inch screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The Odyssey is rated at 10.6 L/100 km in combined driving, and a road test returned 10.4 L/100 km.

Which 2022 Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?

The 2022 Honda Odyssey is offered in 3 trim levels: EX-L Navi, EX-L Res, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• EX-L Navi: This is the entry point to the lineup and gets the 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite radio, Bluetooth, and navigation. It makes sense if you want the core Odyssey experience without stretching for extra luxury or rear-seat tech.
• EX-L Res: This trim is listed alongside EX-L Navi and Touring, but the available information does not separate it with unique equipment details here, so it is best viewed as a middle-step choice if pricing lines up well.
• Touring: This is the best-equipped trim and the one to choose if you want the most complete family-hauling package. It adds HondaLink with WiFi hotspot access, CabinWatch, CabinTalk, the rear entertainment system, an 11-speaker premium audio system, wireless charging, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

For safety equipment, Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are limited to Touring.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Odyssey?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should be able to shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 127 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.98% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $38,146 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Honda Odyssey's resale value?

The current average of $38,147 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,453 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right point in the cycle. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you may reduce the amount of depreciation left to absorb. The Odyssey’s strong family appeal and practical reputation should continue to support demand, especially among buyers who value comfort and versatility over flash.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Honda Odyssey safe?

The 2022 Honda Odyssey earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on all trims and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rear-seat reminder system. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are limited to Touring.

The main caveat is that Honda Sensing can feel abrupt and less refined than you might want, and the blind-spot warning light placement is not ideal. The system can also react too sharply to road markings or construction zones, so you should treat it as a helpful aid rather than something that replaces your own attention.

Should I buy a 2022 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.98% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the Odyssey’s enjoyable driving character while staying consistent with Honda’s familiar formula.

Consider the 2021 if:

• It is a family-focused minivan that improves safety, technology, and utility.

The bottom line: Choose the 2022 if you want the Odyssey’s proven mix of comfort, space, and easy driving, especially if you value a stable used-market price and strong owner satisfaction. If you are shopping mainly on value, the 2021 may be worth a look for buyers who want a similar family-first formula and are willing to compare pricing closely.
