The Yukon’s design and equipment focus on comfort, capability, and upscale presentation, which can support confidence if you want a well-equipped full-size SUV. Its available diesel powertrain also adds an efficiency-minded option, and the 10-speed automatic is part of a broadly modern powertrain setup. If you buy used, your main long-term ownership risk is the complexity that comes with a large, feature-rich SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 GMC Yukon?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SLE already has a premium look, but the SLT, AT4, and Denali add more upscale equipment and distinct styling. The SLE uses cloth seats, while the other trims come with perforated leather. The AT4 brings unique front styling with a dark grille, skid plate, and red recovery hooks, while the Denali adds the most luxurious presentation and exclusive interior designs.
• Powertrain: You can find a 5.3-litre V8, a 6.2-litre V8, or a 3.0-litre turbodiesel four-cylinder. The V8s use direct injection and cylinder deactivation, and the diesel is the efficiency-focused choice if you tow or drive long distances.
• Safety package: GMC Pro Safety is standard and includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian detection, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, following distance indicator, and automatic high-beam headlights. GMC Pro Safety Plus adds lane-change alert with blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear park assist, and it is standard on SLT and above.
• Infotainment: The Yukon uses a 10.2-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Google Built-In, Bluetooth, and wireless phone charging on all but the SLE. AT4 and Denali also get three years of connected services.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada figures put the Yukon at roughly 14 to 15 L/100 km combined with the V8 engines, while the diesel averages just over 10 L/100 km combined. The test vehicle returned 16.3 L/100 km city, 12.7 L/100 km highway, and 14.7 L/100 km combined.

Which 2022 GMC Yukon trim should I buy?

The 2022 GMC Yukon is offered in 4 trim levels: SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali.

Here's the short version:

• SLE: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the Yukon’s premium look and standard seating for eight. It makes sense if you want the most affordable way into the model and do not need the extra luxury or off-road equipment found higher up.
• SLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more upscale equipment and unlocks available second-row captain’s chairs, making access to the third row easier. It also benefits from the stronger safety package, since GMC Pro Safety Plus is standard here and above.
• AT4: Choose this if you want the Yukon’s off-road-oriented character. It gets unique styling, a skid plate, red recovery hooks, and standard heated and cooled front seats, plus the available two-speed transfer case and 4WD setup that suit tougher terrain.
• Denali: This is the luxury choice, with the most distinctive chrome-heavy styling, standard second-row captain’s chairs, heated and cooled front seats, and exclusive interior designs. It is the trim to buy if you want the most premium Yukon experience.

GMC Pro Safety is standard on every trim, while GMC Pro Safety Plus is standard on SLT and above.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 GMC Yukon?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 130 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.00% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $61,590 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 GMC Yukon’s resale value?

The current average of $63,368 CAD sits slightly below last year's $69,638 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more selectively today, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if values continue to ease. If you plan to resell later, condition, trim choice, and equipment level will matter more when buyers compare similar full-size SUVs. Stronger trims with desirable features may hold attention better than a bare-bones example.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 GMC Yukon safe?

The 2022 GMC Yukon earns four-star ratings in front crash protection and rollover resistance, and five-star ratings in side crash protection from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2022 Yukon comes with GMC Pro Safety, which includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian detection, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, following distance indicator, and automatic high-beam headlights. GMC Pro Safety Plus is available on SLE and standard on SLT and above, adding lane-change alert with blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear park assist.

Should I buy a 2022 GMC Yukon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.00% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a standard 12-inch driver information centre and enhanced connectivity.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $53,097 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $63,368 CAD average.
• It brings meaningful gains in space, comfort, and technology.

The bottom line: Choose the 2022 if you want the stronger shopping environment and the added tech updates. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the better value play, especially if you can live without the 2022’s incremental improvements.
