How much does the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning cost?

Prices are up 7.19% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 101 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its powerful performance, smooth drive, and stylish design, and they also like the quiet ride and electric features. The truck’s appeal is strongest if you want a familiar full-size pickup format with zero-emission driving and broad mainstream recognition.

The main trade-offs are value and pricing, especially on extended-range models, and the overview also points to concerns around battery range and charging infrastructure. Even so, the market still shows 23.8% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels powerful, smooth, and quiet, with many drivers describing it as an upgrade from traditional gas models. That kind of positive day-to-day experience usually matters more than headline specs when you’re trying to judge whether a used vehicle will be dependable over time.

The expert review also supports that impression by describing the Lightning as a serious, well-executed electric truck with strong performance and a comfortable driving experience. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the battery, charging habits, and overall EV use pattern still fit your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Lightning is offered in XLT, Lariat, and Platinum. The lower trims use a more conventional 12-inch touchscreen layout, while the higher trims move to a 15-inch portrait-oriented screen. The Lariat and Platinum also add more upscale touches, while the Pro grade is fleet-only.
• Powertrain: All trims use dual electric motors with all-wheel drive. Output is 426 horsepower with the standard-range battery and 563 horsepower with the extended-range battery, while torque is 775 lb-ft regardless of battery. The truck is quick, but its size and weight still limit agility.
• Safety package: Ford’s Co-Pilot 360 advanced driver assistance systems are standard, including automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, intersection assist, rain-sensing wipers, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree surround-view camera. BlueCruise is available at the Lariat level, and some towing aids can also be added.
• Infotainment: All trims get at least a 12-inch touchscreen with Sync 4 and embedded navigation. The Pro and XLT use a landscape-oriented display, while the Lariat and Platinum get a 15-inch portrait-oriented screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included on the Lariat, along with a wireless charging pad.
• Range & charging: The standard-range battery is 98 kWh and is rated for 370 kilometres of range. The extended-range battery is 131 kWh and increases range to 515 kilometres. On a DC fast charger rated at 150 kW, the battery should go from 15 to 80 percent in less than 45 minutes.
• Battery health: On a used EV, you should check battery state-of-health, confirm how the truck has been charged, and look for a history that favours regular home charging over repeated DC fast charging. You should also verify how much of the battery warranty remains.

Which 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning trim should I buy?

The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is offered in 3 trim levels: XLT, Lariat, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• XLT: This is the most accessible path into the Lightning lineup and keeps the core electric truck experience intact, including dual-motor all-wheel drive, the standard safety suite, and the 12-inch touchscreen. It makes the most sense if you want the Lightning’s fundamentals without paying for the more expensive screen and luxury upgrades.
• Lariat: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the more upscale cabin experience, the 15-inch portrait screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the wireless charging pad, and available BlueCruise. If you want the strongest mix of equipment and everyday usability, this is the trim to focus on.
• Platinum: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with the top-tier audio upgrade and the most premium presentation in the lineup. It suits you if you want the most fully equipped Lightning and are comfortable paying for it.

BlueCruise is available at the Lariat level, while the standard Co-Pilot 360 safety suite comes on all trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning?

It’s a seller’s market, so you should act selectively and be ready to move when you find a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 23.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 101 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 7.19% year-over-year.

If you find a listing below $50,471 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning's resale value?

The current average of $56,918 CAD sits slightly above last year's $53,100 CAD.

That upward move suggests the Lightning has held buyer interest well, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. Strong demand can help support pricing, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment and a clean history.

At the same time, the market is still sensitive to trim and battery choice, so higher-priced versions may need more careful positioning when it’s time to list. If you buy smart now, you improve your odds of keeping more value later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning safe?

The Lightning earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford’s Co-Pilot 360 advanced driver assistance systems are standard, including automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, intersection assist, rain-sensing wipers, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree surround-view camera. BlueCruise is available at the Lariat level, and it adds hands-free driving on designated roads with driver monitoring.

That means you get a strong standard safety package, with extra convenience features available as you move up the trim ladder. The main caveat is that some of the more advanced towing and hands-free features are not standard on every version.

Should I buy a 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• 23.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices are up 7.19% year-over-year.
