What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Equinox?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The RS adds black exterior trim, darkened 19-inch wheels, a black interior with red stitching, and a model-specific shift knob, while most trim levels get cloth seats as standard equipment and perforated leather upholstery is available.
• Powertrain: You get a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and standard front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian braking, forward collision warning, following distance indicator, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and Chevy’s Teen Driver system. Optional features include a Safety Alert Seat, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-change alert, a surround-view camera system, front and rear park assist, and automatic parking assist.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes a 7-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a built-in 4G LTE WiFi hotspot. Higher trim levels get an 8-inch touchscreen and a 4.2-inch instrument-cluster screen, and navigation plus a Bose 7-speaker audio system are available.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates it at 8.4 L/100 km combined with front-wheel drive and 8.8 L/100 km combined with all-wheel drive.

Which 2022 Chevrolet Equinox trim should I buy?

The 2022 Chevrolet Equinox is offered in 3 trim levels: LS, LT, Premier.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Equinox and are comfortable with the standard equipment set.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it sits in the middle of the lineup and gives you a more balanced mix of equipment and price.
• Premier: Choose this if you want the top-end version and are willing to pay more for the most upscale trim in the range.

The safety content also notes that some driver-assistance features, such as adaptive cruise control, are optional rather than standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Equinox?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 388 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.44% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,463 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $22,463 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,950 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Equinox has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you purchase near the current average or below it, you may have less downside left than a buyer who paid closer to the model’s earlier pricing. The flip side is that the Equinox’s value story is tied to steady demand rather than standout desirability, so condition and mileage will matter a lot when you eventually resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Equinox safe?

The 2022 Equinox received top “Good” scores in most Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests, but received a “Marginal” rating in the updated side crash test. It earns five-star ratings from NHTSA in frontal and side crash tests, and a four-star rating in rollover crash tests.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assist and safety features include automatic emergency braking, pedestrian braking, forward collision warning, following distance indicator, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and Chevy’s Teen Driver system. Optional features include a Safety Alert Seat, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-change alert, a surround-view camera system, front and rear park assist, and automatic parking assist.

The main caveat is the Marginal IIHS result in the updated side crash test, so safety-minded used buyers should pay close attention to the exact equipment on the vehicle you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.44% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds revised styling, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and available park-assist upgrades.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $24,983 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $22,463 CAD average.
• It adds extra engine power and a more sophisticated braking system.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2022 is the smarter starting point because it already has the key updates and a lower average price. If you’re willing to spend more for a slightly fresher setup and the 2023’s added polish, that newer model is worth a look; otherwise, the 2022 is the more price-sensitive choice.
