Is the 2022 Cadillac XT5 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Cadillac XT5 earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 6.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, smooth performance, and spacious interior, and many also highlight the V6 and safety features. That lines up with the XT5’s role as a roomy, comfortable luxury crossover that prioritises refinement and equipment over personality. If you want a polished premium SUV for everyday use rather than a sporty one, that’s the right lens to use.

There are 31.9% good or great deals in the market, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Cadillac XT5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling SUV with comfort, smooth performance, and a cabin that many drivers find easy to live with over time. The expert evaluation also supports that impression by describing the XT5 as quiet, well controlled, and well suited to relaxed driving. Cadillac’s warranty coverage adds another layer of reassurance for used buyers.

For a used buyer, the main long-term risk is that the best driving experience depends heavily on higher-spec equipment, so a base example may feel less satisfying.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Cadillac XT5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Luxury and Premium Luxury trims use 18-inch alloy wheels, while the Sport trim gets 20-inch wheels, darker trim, and a mesh grille. The Premium Luxury and Sport models can also be upgraded with the Platinum Package, which adds semi-aniline leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped instrument panel and door trim, and a microfibre sueded headliner.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 235 horsepower and a 3.6-litre V6 with 310 hp. The four-cylinder is standard on Luxury and Premium Luxury, while the V6 is standard on Sport and optional on Premium Luxury.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front and rear park assist, automatic high-beam headlamps, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and the Safety Alert Seat. The Driver Assist Package adds adaptive cruise control, enhanced automatic emergency braking, and rear automatic braking, while the Technology Package adds rear pedestrian alert, surround-vision camera system, night vision, and automatic parking assist.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, and a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot. An 8-inch digital instrument cluster display and a head-up display are available with the Technology Package.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo-four is rated at 9.6 litres per 100 kilometres combined with FWD and 10.1 L/100 km combined with AWD. The V6 AWD is rated at 11.2 L/100 km combined.

Which 2022 Cadillac XT5 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Cadillac XT5 is offered in 3 trim levels: Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport.

Here's the short version:

• Luxury: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core XT5 experience with the standard 2.0-litre turbo-four, 18-inch alloy wheels, and the full safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the XT5, but it is also the trim most likely to feel stripped back compared with the better-equipped versions.
• Premium Luxury: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it opens the door to the optional V6, the Platinum Package, and the Technology Package. If you want the XT5 to feel properly luxurious, this is the trim that most clearly delivers the goods.
• Sport: Choose this if you want the V6 as standard and prefer the darker exterior treatment, mesh grille, and 20-inch wheels. It is the most distinctive-looking XT5, but it is more about appearance and standard power than a fundamentally different character.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, but the available Driver Assist Package and Technology Package are worth seeking out if you want the fullest feature set.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Cadillac XT5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 91 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.02% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $32,400 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Cadillac XT5's resale value?

The current average of $33,362 CAD sits slightly below last year's $37,495 CAD.

That price movement suggests the XT5 has become more accessible for used buyers, which can make it easier to move if you price it competitively later. A softer market today can also mean future sellers need to be realistic about condition, mileage, and equipment if they want to stand out. Well-equipped examples should hold more appeal than bare-bones ones because the XT5’s strongest traits are tied to higher-spec content.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Cadillac XT5 safe?

The 2022 Cadillac XT5 received top “Good” scores in all Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests, and the top “Superior” rating for front-crash prevention tech when equipped with optional enhanced automatic emergency braking. It also earns five-star ratings from NHTSA in frontal and side crash tests, and a four-star rating in rollover crash testing.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front and rear park assist, automatic high-beam headlamps, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and the Safety Alert Seat. The optional Driver Assist Package adds adaptive cruise control, enhanced automatic emergency braking, and rear automatic braking, while the Technology Package adds rear pedestrian alert, surround-vision camera system, night vision, and automatic parking assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also available.

One caveat is the Marginal headlight rating, which is worth keeping in mind if you do a lot of night driving.

Should I buy a 2022 Cadillac XT5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.02% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It carries over with minimal changes and adds updated styling touches for the Sport trim.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $29,936 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $33,362 CAD average.
• It offers a polished, well-appointed luxury experience.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $37,542 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $33,362 CAD average.
• It leans into value, space, and style for luxury shoppers.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best fit if you want the current-year XT5 at a softer price than last year and can live with its comfort-first personality. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the better value path; if you want a newer-feeling alternative and can spend more, the 2023 is the pricier step up.
