How much does the 2022 Buick Encore GX cost?

There are 165 listings available, which suggests you should have some room to compare options.

Is the 2022 Buick Encore GX a good car?

Yes — the 4.57/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 7/10. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the comfort, the advanced technology, and the easy-to-use cabin layout. The available 360 camera and supportive seating stand out in feedback, while the Encore GX’s compact, near-luxury positioning makes it appealing if you want a small SUV with a more upscale feel. That said, some shoppers may still see it as a pricier choice than mainstream rivals.

There are 30.3% of listings priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance of finding value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Buick Encore GX reliable?

Owner feedback also points to a dependable, comfortable ownership experience, with praise for the vehicle’s overall refinement and the sense that it can be counted on for everyday use. The expert assessment reinforces that impression by describing the Encore GX as a complete carryover, which usually means fewer surprises from year to year.

Buick also includes a maintenance-friendly ownership touch in the form of a standard driver-assistance package and a well-equipped feature set, which can help reduce day-to-day hassle. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some examples may have been bought for their upscale image without delivering the value some owners expected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Buick Encore GX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim is lighter on equipment, while the top Essence trim adds leather upholstery and LED headlights; the Preferred and Select trims use dimmer halogen headlights.
• Powertrain: You get a 1.3-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine with 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic and AWD.
• Safety package: The standard Driver Confidence package includes automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, following-distance indicator, forward-collision warning, and lane-keeping assistance with lane-departure warning.
• Infotainment: An eight-inch touchscreen is standard, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, built-in Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and OTA-style connected services through Buick Connected Services.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates it at 8.6 L/100 km combined, and the test vehicle averaged 7.4 L/100 km in mostly highway driving.

Which 2022 Buick Encore GX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Buick Encore GX is offered in 3 trim levels: Preferred, Select, and Essence.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable keeping the equipment list simpler.
• Select: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds more equipment without jumping to the top trim, and it can be paired with available navigation.
• Essence: Choose this if you want the most upscale feel, including standard leather upholstery and the better LED headlight setup.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but the headlight rating varies by trim, so the Essence has the advantage there.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Buick Encore GX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it rewards patience and comparison shopping.

• Deal availability: 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 165 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.11% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,167 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Buick Encore GX's resale value?

The current average of $22,167 CAD sits slightly below last year's $24,936 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become more buyer-friendly, which can work against sellers in the short term. If you plan to sell later, you may need to price competitively to stand out, especially if similar listings remain plentiful. On the other hand, the Encore GX’s strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it’s time to move on.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.57/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Buick Encore GX safe?

The 2022 Buick Encore GX earned the highest-possible "Good" ratings in all of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s crash tests, and it earned five-star ratings in both frontal and side crash protection, plus four stars for rollover resistance from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Driver Confidence package includes automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, following-distance indicator, forward-collision warning, and lane-keeping assistance with lane-departure warning. Teen Driver technology and a tire-fill alert system are also included. One caveat is that headlight performance varies by trim: the Essence’s LED headlights rate better than the halogen units on Preferred and Select.

Should I buy a 2022 Buick Encore GX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.11% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.57/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It’s a carryover year with only new exterior paint colours.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $24,354 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $22,167 CAD average.
• It adds a more important role in Buick’s lineup as the remaining conventional gasoline crossover.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2022 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and the model is unchanged. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2023 is the cleaner alternative, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2022.
