Used 2022 Buick Encore GX for Sale near Alberta

How much does the 2022 Buick Encore GX cost?

Prices have softened 10.78% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 170 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Buick Encore GX a good car?

Yes — the 4.57/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 7/10. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the comfort, the advanced technology, and the useful seating and camera features. In practical terms, that makes the Encore GX a good fit if you want a small SUV with a more upscale feel and everyday usability rather than a sporty personality. The 25.9% share of good or great deals also suggests there are still some attractive listings in the market.

Is the 2022 Buick Encore GX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.57/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly points to comfort, advanced technology, and a generally dependable ownership experience, with many drivers describing it as a great compact SUV. The expert drive notes that the powertrain is surprisingly capable and that the handling is drama-free, which supports the sense that it should be easy to live with. Buick also includes a system override for the engine stop/start feature, which can make day-to-day use feel less intrusive.

If you’re buying used, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the specific vehicle has the equipment and condition you want, since some owners have flagged missing seat heaters and an ineffective liftgate.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Buick Encore GX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Preferred trim uses cloth seats, while the top Essence trim adds leather upholstery and LED headlights; the Select sits in between. If you want the best value, the mid-level Select is the trim to compare carefully against the others.
• Powertrain: You get a 1.3-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine with 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. The engine is capable, but it can feel buzzy and a bit harsh.
• Safety package: The standard Driver Confidence package includes automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, following-distance indicator, forward-collision warning, and lane-keeping assistance with lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are optional, so check whether they’re fitted.
• Infotainment: An eight-inch touchscreen is standard, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth audio streaming, a Wi-Fi hotspot, front and rear USB ports, OnStar, and SiriusXM. Navigation is available on Select and Essence trims.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada lists combined fuel consumption at 8.6 L/100 km, and the test vehicle averaged 7.4 L/100 km in mostly highway driving.

Which 2022 Buick Encore GX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Buick Encore GX is offered in 3 trim levels: Preferred, Select, and Essence.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Encore GX experience with the standard infotainment and safety equipment. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without the nicer trim-specific upgrades.
• Select: This is the best-value trim to compare first because it adds more equipment without jumping all the way to the top model. It also unlocks available navigation, which makes it the sweet spot for many shoppers.
• Essence: This is the most upscale version, with leather upholstery and LED headlights. It suits you best if you want the most premium-feeling Encore GX and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package is standard, but blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert remain optional, so verify those features on any used example.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Buick Encore GX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it’s worth shopping carefully and comparing listings.

• Deal availability: 25.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 170 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.78% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,143 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Buick Encore GX's resale value?

The current average of $22,143 CAD sits slightly below last year's $24,818 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has softened, which can make the Encore GX easier to buy now but less favourable if you’re planning to sell soon. If you own one, the current trend means you may need to price competitively to move it. On the other hand, a stable, well-equipped small SUV with broad appeal can still hold buyer interest if it’s clean and properly maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.57/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Buick Encore GX safe?

The 2022 Buick Encore GX performed very well in National Highway Traffic Safety Administration crash tests, earning the maximum five stars for overall crash protection. The SUV gets five stars in both frontal and side crash protection and four stars for rollover resistance.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Driver Confidence package includes automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, following-distance indicator, forward-collision warning, and lane-keeping assistance with lane-departure warning. Teen Driver technology and a tire-fill alert system are also included. Headlight performance varies by trim: the Essence trim’s LED headlights earned an Acceptable rating, while Preferred and Select trims with halogen headlights earned a Marginal rating.

Should I buy a 2022 Buick Encore GX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 25.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.78% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.57/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It’s a carryover year with comfort, tech, and strong safety scores.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $24,207 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $22,143 CAD average.
• It adds a new Moonstone Gray Metallic paint option.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2022 is the smarter buy because it offers the same core package at a lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year and a small cosmetic update, the 2023 is the alternative to consider.
