What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Acura RDX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model is the most stripped-back version, while higher trims add more luxury and convenience equipment. The A-Spec Platinum Elite stands out for its quieter cabin, high-quality interior materials, solid build quality, and standard adaptive-damping suspension, while the PMC Edition is the limited-production halo model with exclusive paint and interior treatment.
• Powertrain: Every 2022 RDX uses the same turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder VTEC engine with 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and standard SH-AWD in Canada. It is described as responsive and enjoyable, though fuel use can climb if you drive hard.
• Safety package: AcuraWatch is standard and includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. With the Technology package and higher, you also get front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.
• Infotainment: The RDX uses a 10.2-inch display with Acura’s TTI touchpad controller. It adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa Built-in, satellite radio, AcuraLink connected services with Wi-Fi hotspot access, and a navigation system starting with the Technology package.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert evaluation notes a Natural Resources Canada fuel consumption rating of 10.3 litres per 100 kilometres, and the test loop returned 11.4 L/100 km.

Which 2022 Acura RDX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Acura RDX is offered in 5 trim levels: base model, Technology, A-Spec, A-Spec Platinum Elite, and PMC Edition.

Here's the short version:

• base model: This is the entry point if you want the RDX’s standard turbocharged engine, SH-AWD, and core luxury-SUV basics without stretching the budget. It gives you the essential RDX formula, but it is the least equipped version.
• Technology: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the navigation system and a 12-speaker ELS Studio audio system, making the cabin feel more upscale without jumping to the priciest versions.
• A-Spec: Choose this if you want a sportier look and a more expressive personality while staying below the top luxury trims.
• A-Spec Platinum Elite: This is the most compelling premium choice if you want the quietest, most polished RDX experience, plus the adaptive-damping suspension and a 10.5-inch head-up display.
• PMC Edition: Pick this only if you want the limited-production, hand-built special edition with exclusive Long Beach Blue Pearl paint and Orchid white interior.

With the Technology package and higher, the RDX adds front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Acura RDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 152 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.58% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $37,641 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Acura RDX's resale value?

The current average of $37,672 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,661 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the RDX has moved into a more buyer-friendly phase, which can be a double-edged sword for future sellers. On one hand, it means you may not recover as much as earlier owners did when demand was stronger. On the other hand, the current pricing can help keep the model attractive to used shoppers, which supports turnover.

If the RDX continues to be seen as a comfortable, well-equipped luxury SUV with strong owner satisfaction, that should help it remain appealing in the used market. The broader trim range and standard all-wheel drive in Canada also give it practical staying power.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Acura RDX safe?

The 2022 Acura RDX earns a Top Safety Pick+ safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and a five-star overall crash-test rating from NHTSA, with four-star frontal-impact and rollover resistance ratings and five-star side-impact ratings.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

AcuraWatch is standard and includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. New for 2022, Acura also adds a rear seatbelt reminder system. With the Technology package and higher, you get front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.

One caveat is that the lane-keeping and lane-centring systems can issue false warnings and unnecessary steering corrections in some conditions, so you should test those systems carefully on your own routes.

Should I buy a 2022 Acura RDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• This year adds a quieter cabin, more equipment, and refined ride and handling.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $32,894 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $37,672 CAD average.
• It offers a modern feel with strong practicality and a more engaging personality.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $41,956 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $37,672 CAD average.
• It remains a strong-value luxury SUV with comfort and performance appeal.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around pick if you want the updated cabin, quieter ride, and strong safety credentials without paying 2023 money. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 is the value play; if you want to spend more for a newer model-year alternative, the 2023 is the natural step up.
