What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Acura MDX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base MDX gets standard Jewel Eye LED headlights, but the Tech grade and above add larger wheels and more upscale equipment, while the A-Spec and Platinum Elite trims bring additional luxury and convenience features.
• Powertrain: You get one naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6 with a 10-speed automatic and standard SH-AWD in Canada, so your focus should be on condition and smooth operation rather than engine choice.
• Safety package: AcuraWatch is standard and includes collision mitigation emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, traffic sign recognition, driver attention monitor, expanded pedestrian detection capability, blind spot monitoring, and traffic-jam assist.
• Infotainment: All models use a 12.3-inch landscape-oriented infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, OTA updates, and Qi wireless charging; the screen is not a touchscreen.
• Fuel efficiency: No fuel-consumption figure is stated in the available data.

Which 2022 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Acura MDX is offered in 4 trim levels: MDX, Tech, A-Spec, and Platinum Elite.

Here's the short version:

• MDX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core MDX experience with standard SH-AWD, the 12.3-inch infotainment display, wireless smartphone integration, and the full AcuraWatch safety suite. It makes sense if you want the least expensive way into the model and can live without the extra luxury and audio upgrades.
• Tech: This is the best-value trim because it adds navigation and a stronger ELS Studio audio system, while staying below the more expensive appearance- and luxury-focused trims. If you want the sweet spot in the lineup, this is the one to target.
• A-Spec: Choose this if you want the sportiest appearance and the upgraded ELS Studio 3D Premium Audio System. It also adds CabinTalk, which may matter if you regularly carry passengers in the second and third rows.
• Platinum Elite: This is the most luxurious version, with the most premium equipment, including the head-up display and surround-view camera system. It suits you best if you want the most complete MDX and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, so your trim decision is mostly about luxury, audio, and convenience features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Acura MDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting deep discounts everywhere.

• Deal availability: 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 100 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.40% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $41,919 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $42,819 CAD sits slightly below last year's $47,790 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour as a buyer now, but it also means a future seller may need to be realistic about where the market has settled. If prices remain near the current average, resale values should stay more stable than they were a year ago, but not especially strong relative to the prior peak.

The MDX’s broad appeal helps support demand, especially because shoppers respond well to its handling, interior quality, and spaciousness. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Acura MDX safe?

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

A low-speed braking control system also adds extra protection in tight urban situations by detecting objects and helping brake automatically if needed.

Should I buy a 2022 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a new platform, new design, and a more assertive driving character.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $47,692 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $42,819 CAD average.
• It adds a more polished and confidence-inspiring feel.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2022 is the smarter buy because it combines strong owner satisfaction with a lower average price. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model-year alternative, the 2023 is worth a look, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2022.
