Is the 2022 Acura MDX a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Acura MDX earns a 4.75/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its handling, interior quality, and spaciousness, and they also like the comfort and overall driving feel. The MDX’s three-row luxury crossover layout makes it a strong fit if you want a premium family hauler with a good blend of luxury and practicality. Even so, some owners point to technology frustrations and feature omissions, so it suits you best if you value refinement and road manners more than gadget-heavy convenience. 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Acura MDX reliable?

Acura’s standard all-wheel-drive powertrain and solid, quality feel add to that impression of durability. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about basic dependability and more about whether the technology and feature set meet your expectations over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Acura MDX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base MDX gets standard Jewel Eye LED headlights, but the Tech grade and above add larger wheels, navigation, and more premium equipment. The A-Spec and Platinum Elite trims also bring the top audio system, while the Platinum Elite adds the most luxury and convenience features.
• Powertrain: You get one powertrain: a naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6 with a 10-speed automatic and standard Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive in Canada. It is tuned for strong cornering feel, quick response, and confident all-wheel-drive traction.
• Safety package: AcuraWatch is standard and includes collision mitigation emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, traffic sign recognition, driver attention monitor, expanded pedestrian detection capability, blind spot monitoring, and traffic-jam assist. The MDX also has low-speed braking control and collision mitigation throttle control.
• Infotainment: All models get a 12.3-inch landscape infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Qi-compatible wireless charging, built-in Alexa, a WiFi hotspot, and over-the-air software updates. The screen is not a touchscreen.
• Fuel efficiency: No fuel-consumption figure is stated in the available data.

Which 2022 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Acura MDX is offered in 4 trim levels: MDX, Tech, A-Spec, and Platinum Elite.

Here's the short version:

• MDX: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the core MDX experience: standard all-wheel drive, the 12.3-inch infotainment screen, wireless smartphone integration, and the full AcuraWatch safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable with a simpler luxury setup.
• Tech: This is the best-value trim. It adds navigation and a stronger ELS audio system, which makes it the sweet spot if you want the most useful upgrades without jumping too far in price.
• A-Spec: Choose this if you want the sportiest appearance and the top-tier ELS Studio 3D Premium Audio System. It also adds CabinTalk, which can be useful for families with second- and third-row passengers.
• Platinum Elite: This is the luxury-focused choice, with the most premium equipment in the lineup. It adds the head-up display and surround-view camera, and it is the trim to target if you want the most complete MDX experience.

The standard AcuraWatch safety package is included on every trim, so you do not need to move up the lineup for core driver assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Acura MDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 96 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.53% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $41,919 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $42,439 CAD sits slightly below last year's $47,971 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about expectations. If you buy now, you are entering at a lower average price than last year, which can help cushion depreciation if the market stays steady. Strong owner satisfaction should also help support demand when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Acura MDX safe?

The 2022 Acura MDX earns IIHS’s Top Safety Pick+ rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The AcuraWatch suite is standard on all MDX models and includes collision mitigation emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, traffic sign recognition, driver attention monitor, expanded pedestrian detection capability, blind spot monitoring, and traffic-jam assist. The MDX also adds low-speed braking control and collision mitigation throttle control for extra protection in tight, low-speed situations. One caveat is that NHTSA has not yet rated this model year.

Should I buy a 2022 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a new platform, sharper design, and a more refined driving feel.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $47,724 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $42,439 CAD average.
• It adds a more polished and confidence-inspiring feel.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the better value if you want the redesigned MDX at a lower average price and with strong owner satisfaction. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model-year alternative, the 2023 is worth a look, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2022.
