Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 517 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.05% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $21,244 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $21,253 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,019 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Tiguan has become more affordable for buyers, but it also means a future seller may face a softer market than last year. If you buy near today’s average, your resale position will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained. A lower entry price can help offset some depreciation, especially if you plan to keep the SUV for several years.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.05% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $25,000 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $21,253 CAD average.
• It adds refreshed safety technology.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the better value if you want the lower purchase price and a strong satisfaction profile. If you can stretch your budget and want the newer refresh with added safety tech, the 2022 is the better secondary path.
