Is the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

What is the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $21,274 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,233 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Tiguan has become more accessible for buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a softer market than owners saw a year ago. If you buy at today's average, your resale outlook will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history. A well-kept example should still appeal to shoppers who want a roomy, practical SUV with a comfortable feel.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $25,254 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $21,274 CAD average.
• It adds updated safety technology and a light refresh.

The bottom line:
The 2021 is the better value if you want the Tiguan’s roomy, comfort-focused formula at a lower price. If you can stretch your budget and want newer safety tech, the 2022 is the better upgrade path; otherwise, the 2021 is the smarter buy for price-sensitive shoppers.
