What is the 2021 Tesla Model Y's resale value?

The current average of $34,833 CAD sits slightly below last year's $37,692 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour if you buy now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays under pressure. Even so, the Model Y’s strong owner satisfaction and broad appeal should help support demand when it’s time for you to sell. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintain the vehicle well, you should be in a better position to protect value over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 Tesla Model Y or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 24.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2021 if you want a well-liked Model Y with strong owner approval, a softer price trend, and enough inventory to compare options. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby year may still make sense, but the 2021 is the better pick when you want a balance of value, demand, and buyer confidence.
