Why it stands out
The 2021 Tesla Model X stands out as a large, family-focused electric SUV with a distinctive shape and a long list of advanced features. It is based on the same platform as the Tesla Model S, shares about 30% of its content with that sedan, and is classified as a midsize crossover with two- and three-row seating for up to seven passengers. Its signature feature is the double-hinged Falcon Wing rear doors, which open up instead of out, giving it a character that is unlike most SUVs on the road.
For 2021, the Model X received a major overhaul. Tesla redesigned the interior and updated the entire powertrain, while the exterior change was limited to a new front bumper. The Model X Plaid also arrived with a tri-motor setup, and the cabin gained a landscape-format centre screen, better materials, a revised centre console, a yoke steering wheel, and a rear-seat entertainment screen. Standard equipment was generous, including all-wheel drive, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, heated washer nozzles, LED fog lights, 20-inch alloy wheels, adaptive suspension, a location-aware garage door opener, automatic front doors, vegan leatherette seating surfaces, 12-way power adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power liftgate, a premium 17-speaker audio system, navigation, Wi-Fi connectivity, and Bluetooth phone pairing.
The trade-offs are worth noting. The Model X does not offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and the third row is described as cramped. Falcon Wing doors can also be tricky in tight spaces. Even so, the 2021 Model X remains appealing for buyers who want a spacious, high-tech electric SUV with strong performance, impressive range, and a premium feel.

Gets the job done. Works great if you have a charger at home or at work. Great city commuter vehicle, but will require more top offs compared to a gasoline car. The best part is the acceleration and it's pretty intuitive to use for a new EV driver. I do find the seats a bit uncomfortable.
