How much does the 2021 Nissan Kicks cost?

Is the 2021 Nissan Kicks a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Nissan Kicks earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

It fits best if you want a refreshed, budget-friendly crossover with a friendly personality, more features than before, and everyday usability rather than strong performance. The expert review also notes that it keeps the same easygoing appeal while adding a more feature-rich feel.

30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Nissan Kicks reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2021 Kicks is presented as a practical, value-focused subcompact SUV with a strong emphasis on safety, fuel efficiency, and useful equipment. Its standard hardware and straightforward packaging support the impression of a simple, low-drama ownership experience.

The powertrain is modest, but the review says it has enough power for its size and that the CVT noise under heavy acceleration should not move it out of consideration. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that its limited performance may feel more noticeable if your driving needs are more demanding.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Nissan Kicks?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The top-tier Kicks SR and SR Premium add LED multi-reflector headlights and standard LED fog lights, while the SR Premium also brings a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel and shift knob, Prima-Tex-appointed seating with three-tone design and stitching, and a more upscale appearance. The base trim is lighter on equipment, so you should compare it carefully against the mid-range and upper trims if you want more comfort and convenience features.
• Powertrain: Every 2021 Kicks uses a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine with 122 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque, paired with Nissan’s Xtronic CVT and front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is not available, and the model is tuned for enough power rather than quick acceleration.
• Safety package: Every Kicks comes with Nissan Safety Shield 360, which includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, high beam assist, and rear automatic braking. Cruise control is standard, and the SV and SR add adaptive cruise control, a driver alertness monitor, and rear door alert.
• Infotainment: The base Kicks S gets a 7-inch infotainment touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, three USB ports, keyless entry, push-button start, and Easy Fill Tire Alert. The SV adds Nissan Intelligent Key, automatic climate control, satellite radio, remote engine start, and a USB-C port, while the SR Premium adds the Bose Personal Plus sound system and a surround-view monitor.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the Kicks at 7.7 L/100 km in the city, 6.6 L/100 km on the highway, and 7.2 L/100 km combined.

Which 2021 Nissan Kicks trim should I buy?

The 2021 Nissan Kicks is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SR, SR Premium.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry point and the core Kicks experience. You still get the 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, keyless entry, push-button start, and the full Safety Shield 360 suite, but you give up the extra comfort and convenience upgrades found higher up.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds automatic climate control, satellite radio, remote engine start, Nissan Intelligent Key, and a USB-C port. It also gains rear disc brakes and the extra driver-assistance features that make daily use feel more polished.
• SR: This trim is the step up if you want a sportier look and more premium lighting, including LED headlights and LED fog lights. It also gets the 17-inch aluminium-alloy wheels and rear disc brakes, so it feels more complete than the S without jumping all the way to the top model.
• SR Premium: This is the most feature-rich version, adding the Bose Personal Plus sound system, surround-view monitor, Prima-Tex-appointed seating, black alloy wheels, and the most upscale interior touches. It suits you best if you want the most equipment and the strongest premium feel in the range.

Safety Shield 360 is standard across the lineup, while adaptive cruise control, a driver alertness monitor, and rear door alert are reserved for the SV and SR trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Nissan Kicks?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 291 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.22% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,332 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Nissan Kicks's resale value?

The current average of $17,339 CAD sits slightly below last year's $19,531 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favour, which can make the Kicks easier to purchase now but may also limit upside for a future seller in the near term. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later. The model’s value-oriented positioning and broad appeal should still help it remain easy to move when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Nissan Kicks safe?

The 2021 Kicks earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2021 Kicks comes standard with Nissan Safety Shield 360, which includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, high beam assist, and rear automatic braking. Cruise control is also standard, and Nissan equips every Kicks with 10 airbags.

The 2021 Kicks has not been crash-tested by IIHS. The review also notes that the mechanically similar 2020 model scored all Good marks in crashworthiness, while its headlights were rated Acceptable or Poor depending on trim level, so the refreshed headlights are an important detail to watch on this model year.

Should I buy a 2021 Nissan Kicks or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It’s been only three years since the Nissan Kicks made its way to North America, but it’s been available across the globe for longer, and the refreshed 2021 model continues to check the same boxes with more features.

The bottom line: If you want the refreshed Kicks with more features and a lower average price than last year, the 2021 model is the one to target. If you are mainly shopping on price, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2021 gives you the updated look, added equipment, and strong value story in one package.

How does the 2021 Nissan Kicks compare to the 2021 Mazda CX-30?

Our experts score the 2021 Nissan Kicks 8.7/10 and the 2021 Mazda CX-30 7.5/10.

The Kicks is the more affordable choice, with a lower average used price and more listings available, while the CX-30 brings more power and a higher starting MSRP. If you want the better value and a more budget-friendly ownership proposition, the Kicks makes the stronger case. If you care more about engine output and are willing to spend more, the CX-30 is the more expensive alternative.
