• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 114 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.77% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $18,989 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $18,989 CAD sits slightly below last year's $23,091 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the model has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market. If you own one, your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. The N Line’s strong equipment list and performance appeal can help it stand out, but broad market pricing still matters.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Hyundai’s ADAS package is extensive and includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assistance, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, driver-attention warning, automatic high-beam headlights, Rear Occupant Alert, Safe Exit Warning, and Highway Drive Assist.

The review also notes an important caveat: the N Line had not been tested independently at the time, and the standard Sonata’s frontal-impact ratings were not carried over to it in the published review.

Should I buy a 2021 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 adds the N Line’s sporty hardware and a bargain-price performance focus.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $22,323 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $18,989 CAD average.
• It adds a broader personality and a surprisingly sporty N Line variant.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of value, performance, and equipment, the 2021 is the smarter buy. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model year and a broader appeal, the 2022 is the better secondary path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2021’s lower average price makes it the more compelling choice.
