What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Ridgeline?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Sport trim is the only one with cloth seats, while higher trims add more comfort and convenience equipment. The base setup is not stripped down, but you should check whether the features you want are included before you buy.
• Powertrain: Every Ridgeline uses a 280-horsepower V6 with a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard torque-vectoring all-wheel drive. It is smooth and refined, but it is not a rock-crawling off-roader.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-centring assistance. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is not offered in Canada.
• Infotainment: Every Ridgeline gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, text messaging, connected services, USB charging ports, and wireless smartphone charging. Higher trims add SiriusXM, HD Radio, navigation, voice recognition, traffic information, and a premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: No fuel-consumption figure is stated in the available data.

Which 2021 Honda Ridgeline trim should I buy?

The 2021 Honda Ridgeline is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, EX-L, Touring, and Black Edition.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the value play if you want the Ridgeline’s core strengths without paying for extras you may not need. You still get the V6, standard all-wheel drive, the 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, and Honda Sensing.
• EX-L: This is the trim to target if you want a better balance of comfort and equipment without jumping to the top of the range. It should suit you if you want a more upscale daily driver and plan to keep the truck for a while.
• Touring: Choose this if you want the more premium tech and convenience upgrades, including navigation and the upgraded audio and connectivity features.
• Black Edition: This is the most distinctive choice if you want the most upscale presentation and are willing to pay for it.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is not offered in Canada.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Ridgeline?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 81 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.48% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $36,624 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline's resale value?

The current average of $37,794 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,415 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favourable for buyers, which can put some pressure on future resale expectations. If you own one now, you may need to price it competitively when it is time to sell, especially if similar listings remain plentiful. On the other hand, the Ridgeline’s strong owner satisfaction and practical appeal should help it stay relevant with shoppers who value comfort and utility.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline safe?

The 2021 Honda Ridgeline earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS, and it was noted that the redesigned front end lowered its score in the small overlap front: passenger side crash test.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-centring assistance. The Ridgeline also includes a multi-angle reversing camera and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is not offered in Canada.

One caveat is that the adaptive cruise control can react too aggressively in some traffic situations, so you should stay alert even when the driver-assistance systems are active.

Should I buy a 2021 Honda Ridgeline or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.48% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 update gives the Ridgeline a more truck-like look and broader appeal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $39,803 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $37,794 CAD average.
• It carries over essentially unchanged, so you are mainly paying more for the newer model year.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2021 is the smarter buy. If you prefer a newer model year and are comfortable paying more for essentially the same truck, the 2022 is the secondary path.

How does the 2021 Honda Ridgeline compare to the 2021 Toyota Tacoma?

Our experts score the 2021 Honda Ridgeline 7/10 and the 2021 Toyota Tacoma 6.5/10. The Ridgeline is the better choice if you want a smoother, more comfortable daily driver with stronger on-road manners. The Tacoma is the cheaper new-truck entry point, but the Ridgeline’s used pricing, comfort, and practicality make it the more appealing all-rounder here.
