Is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Honda Ridgeline earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, ride quality, spacious interior, smooth driving experience, and innovative truck bed and cargo space. The Ridgeline’s use-case appeal is strongest if you want a pickup that feels easy to live with every day while still delivering truck utility.

Is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline reliable?

Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with repeated praise for comfort, ride quality, and the way the truck’s practical features hold up in daily use. The expert assessment also describes it as a strong daily driver with useful utility and on-pavement manners that suit long-term ownership.

Honda’s standard maintenance coverage can help reduce early ownership friction, and the Ridgeline’s overall package should appeal if you value consistency over novelty. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that its capability limits may matter more if you need serious towing or off-road use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Ridgeline?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport trim is the most basic version, and it is the only one with cloth seats. Higher trims add more comfort and convenience equipment, so the base truck is the one most likely to feel light on features.
• Powertrain: Every Ridgeline uses a 280-horsepower V6 with a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard torque-vectoring all-wheel drive. It is smooth and refined, but it is not built for rock-crawling, and its modest ground clearance limits off-road ambition.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-centring assistance. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is not offered in Canada.
• Infotainment: Every model gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, text messaging, basic HondaLink services, USB charging ports, and wireless smartphone charging. Higher trims add SiriusXM satellite radio, HD Radio, navigation, voice recognition, traffic information, and a premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: No fuel-consumption figure is stated in the available data.

Which 2021 Honda Ridgeline trim should I buy?

The 2021 Honda Ridgeline is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, EX-L, Touring, and Black Edition.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the value-focused entry point, and it still gets the core Ridgeline strengths: the V6, standard all-wheel drive, 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, and Honda Sensing. It makes the most sense if you want the Ridgeline’s everyday usability without paying for extras you may not need.
• EX-L: This is the trim to target if you want a more complete ownership experience without jumping all the way to the top of the range. It should suit you best if you want a better-equipped truck for daily use and family duty.
• Touring: This trim adds more convenience and tech content, including navigation, traffic information, voice recognition, HD Radio, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a premium sound system. It is the better pick if you want the most polished midrange experience.
• Black Edition: This is the range-topper, so it is the one to choose if you want the most upscale presentation and the fullest equipment list.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is not offered in Canada.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Ridgeline?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 76 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.02% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $36,606 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline's resale value?

The current average of $37,948 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,813 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour if you buy now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays under pressure. For a seller, the current trend suggests you may need to price competitively to move the truck quickly.

The Ridgeline’s strong owner satisfaction helps support demand, especially among shoppers who value comfort and practicality over traditional truck toughness. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline safe?

The 2021 Ridgeline earned high safety ratings from both IIHS and NHTSA in the previous model year, but the redesigned front end lowered its IIHS small overlap front: passenger side result.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-centring assistance. The truck also includes a multi-angle reversing camera and automatic high-beam headlights.

One caveat is that the adaptive cruise control can react too aggressively in some traffic situations, which means you should stay alert even when the driver-assistance systems are active. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is not offered in Canada.

Should I buy a 2021 Honda Ridgeline or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.02% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 facelift gives it a more truck-like appearance and broadens its appeal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $40,044 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $37,948 CAD average.
• It carries over essentially unchanged after the 2021 facelift.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2021 is the smarter buy because it already has the facelift and a softer market price. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model year with the same basic formula, the 2022 is the simpler alternative.

How does the 2021 Honda Ridgeline compare to the 2021 Toyota Tacoma?

Our experts score the 2021 Honda Ridgeline 7/10 and the 2021 Toyota Tacoma 6.5/10. The Ridgeline is the better choice if you want a smoother, more comfortable daily driver with stronger on-road refinement. The Tacoma is cheaper to start, but the Ridgeline’s higher expert score and stronger used-price positioning make it the more appealing all-rounder for many shoppers.
