How much does the 2021 Honda Pilot cost?

Is the 2021 Honda Pilot a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Honda Pilot earns a 4.86/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, smooth ride, and range of features, along with the technology and safety equipment. That lines up with the Pilot’s family-focused role as a midsize three-row crossover SUV, where comfort, utility, and easy day-to-day use matter more than flashy styling. The good and great deals share of 29.6% also suggests there are worthwhile listings to consider.

Is the 2021 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable, with strong value, a smooth ride, and the kind of everyday usability that helps you count on it over time. Honda’s own positioning also reinforces that reputation, with language around reliability, lasting a long time, and strong resale value. The Pilot’s powertrain is described as smooth and refined, which supports the impression of trouble-free ownership.

Honda also frames the Pilot as a vehicle that should be worth something when you decide to replace it, which is a useful sign for long-term ownership confidence. For used buyers, the main risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the vehicle’s age and average value equation still fit your expectations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Pilot?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup starts with LX and EX, then moves to EX-L Navi, Touring, and Black Edition. The base trims are more basic, while higher trims add the features that make the Pilot feel more complete for family use.
• Powertrain: Every 2021 Pilot uses a 3.5-litre V6 with 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic and torque-vectoring all-wheel drive. It is smooth, refined, and quick to get up to speed.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warning start with the Touring trim.
• Infotainment: Most models get an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, text-messaging support, satellite radio, and basic HondaLink. EX-L Navi adds built-in navigation, while Touring adds wireless phone charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a 10-speaker premium audio system, rear-seat entertainment, a 115-volt outlet, an HDMI port, and Cabin Talk.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says the Pilot should use 11.0 L/100 km in combined driving, and the test vehicle averaged 10.9 L/100 km.

Which 2021 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?

The 2021 Honda Pilot is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L Navi, Touring, Black Edition.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Pilot’s core space, V6 power, and standard safety equipment at the lowest price.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more everyday comfort and convenience without pushing you too far up the price ladder.
• EX-L Navi: Choose this if built-in navigation matters to you and you want a more upscale feel without jumping to the pricier Touring.
• Touring: This is the trim to target if you want the most family-friendly tech, including wireless charging, a premium audio system, rear-seat entertainment, and Cabin Talk.
• Black Edition: Pick this if you want the most fully loaded Pilot with the blacked-out look and exclusive interior details.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warning begin with the Touring trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Pilot?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 226 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.64% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $32,552 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $32,552 CAD sits slightly below last year's $37,263 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Pilot has become more accessible for buyers, which can help keep demand healthy in the used market. For a future seller, that means you may not see the same pricing strength as in the past, but the model’s broad family appeal still gives it a solid base of interested shoppers. The current range also shows that well-kept examples can still command meaningful money, especially when they are equipped and priced competitively.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Honda Pilot safe?

The 2021 Honda Pilot earns five-star ratings from NHTSA overall, despite four-star ratings for front-passenger protection in a frontal impact. It also earns good ratings from IIHS, except for an acceptable score for front passenger small overlap frontal-impact protection.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist. Starting with the Touring trim, you also get blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warning. The system works, but the expert assessment notes that it is not especially smooth or refined, and the lane-departure warning could be less intrusive.

Should I buy a 2021 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.64% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It stands out for its interior, powertrain, driving dynamics, and simple but useful technology.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $30,701 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $32,552 CAD average.
• It offers tons of cargo space and an adult-friendly third row.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the better pick if you want the stronger overall mix of value, satisfaction, and current-market availability. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2020 is still a sensible alternative, especially if you find a clean example with the features you want.
