How much does the 2021 Honda Pilot cost?

There are 238 listings available, which suggests healthy inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2021 Honda Pilot a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Honda Pilot earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10. Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, smooth ride, and range of features, and they also value the available technology and safety features. It fits especially well if you want a family-focused midsize three-row SUV that prioritizes everyday usefulness, comfort, and driving enjoyment over flashy styling. With 25.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s also a decent amount of market flexibility.

Is the 2021 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that feels dependable, with strong value for a large SUV and the kind of ownership experience people can count on over time. The expert assessment reinforces that impression by describing Honda as a known quantity that is likely to be reliable, last a long time, and hold value well. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the Pilot’s dated design and average value equation fit your expectations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Pilot?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes LX, EX, EX-L Navi, Touring, and Black Edition. The base trims are more basic, while higher trims add leather, navigation, and more premium convenience features. The Touring and Black Edition are the best fit if you want the most equipment, and the Black Edition adds exclusive black leather upholstery with red-tinted and perforated seat inserts, red contrast stitching, and red ambient lighting.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 3.5-litre V6 with 280 horsepower and a nine-speed automatic. It is smooth, refined, and quick to get up to speed, while the torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system and driving modes help with traction in poor conditions.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on every 2021 Pilot and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warning start with the Touring trim. The standard headlights are a weaker point on lower trims, while higher trims get better-rated units.
• Infotainment: Most models use an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, text-messaging support, satellite radio, and basic HondaLink connected services. Built-in navigation starts with the EX-L Navi, while the Touring adds wireless phone charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a 10-speaker premium audio system, rear-seat entertainment, and Cabin Talk.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says the Pilot should use 11.0 L/100 km in combined driving, and the test vehicle averaged 10.9 L/100 km.

Which 2021 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?

The 2021 Honda Pilot is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L Navi, Touring, and Black Edition.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Pilot’s core space, comfort, and standard safety equipment at the lowest price.
• EX: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds more everyday convenience without pushing you into the pricier luxury-oriented trims.
• EX-L Navi: Choose this if built-in navigation matters to you and you want a more upscale feel without going all the way to the Touring.
• Touring: This is the trim to target if you want the most family-friendly features, including wireless charging, a premium audio system, rear-seat entertainment, and Cabin Talk.
• Black Edition: Pick this if you want the most distinctive appearance and a fully loaded Pilot with the blacked-out treatment and exclusive interior details.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warning begin with the Touring trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Pilot?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 25.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 238 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.10% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $32,004 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $32,004 CAD sits slightly below last year's $37,696 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more attractive point today, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment if prices continue to normalise. The Pilot’s broad family appeal, strong owner satisfaction, and reputation for reliability should still support demand. Even so, its dated styling and average value equation may limit how much pricing power you have later on.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Honda Pilot safe?

The 2021 Honda Pilot earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA despite four-star ratings for front-passenger protection in a frontal impact. It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist. Starting with the Touring trim, you also get blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warning. The system works, but the expert assessment notes that it is not especially smooth or refined, and the lane-departure warning could be less intrusive. IIHS results are generally strong, with top “good” ratings except for an “acceptable” score for front passenger small overlap frontal-impact protection, and the standard headlights also earn an “acceptable” rating.

Should I buy a 2021 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 25.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends strong utility, comfort, and driving enjoyment with a useful technology and safety package.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $29,621 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $32,004 CAD average.
• It offers lots of cargo space, an adult-friendly third row, and a strong safety feature set.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced buy, the 2021 is the stronger pick thanks to its solid owner satisfaction, lower current pricing, and well-rounded family appeal. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2020 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the Pilot’s core strengths.
