Is the 2021 Honda Accord a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Honda Accord earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 9.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Drivers consistently praise its great performance, luxurious-feeling features, good gas mileage, modern styling, and up-to-date technology. In practical use, that lines up well with the Accord’s role as a polished mid-size sedan that aims to deliver value without feeling basic.

The model’s broad appeal comes from that mix of comfort, efficiency, and everyday usability, even if some shoppers feel the pricing is high for the features offered. 27.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to find a strong-value example.

For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about durability and more about choosing the right trim and engine for your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Accord?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE, Sport, EX-L, and Touring each add equipment as you move up, with the SE bringing heated front seats and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, while the Sport adds a wireless phone charger, moonroof, premium audio, heated steering wheel, and paddle shifters. The EX-L adds leather upholstery, heated outboard rear seats, and second-row ventilation, while the Touring adds ventilated front seats and more tech. The SE is the value-focused choice if you want the essentials without paying for extras.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a 192-horsepower 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with a CVT or a 252-hp 2.0-litre turbo-four with a 10-speed automatic. The smaller engine is the efficiency play, while the larger engine is the more engaging option.
• Safety package: Every Accord comes with Honda Sensing, including lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning and collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Standard vehicle stability assist, traction control, a rearview camera, LED daytime running lights, and traffic sign recognition are also included.
• Infotainment: Every trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, hands-free text messaging, and two USB ports. Higher trims add satellite radio, HD radio, a wireless phone charger, a 10-speaker premium audio system, an extra USB port, and Wi-Fi hotspot capability when HondaLink services are activated.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1.5-litre engine is rated at 7.2 L/100 km combined in the SE and EX-L, and 7.5 L/100 km combined in the Sport and Touring. The 2.0-litre engine is rated at 9.1 L/100 km combined.

Which 2021 Honda Accord trim should I buy?

The 2021 Honda Accord is offered in 6 trim levels: SE, Sport, EX-L, Touring, Sport 2.0, and Touring 2.0.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the best-value trim if you want the Accord’s core strengths at the lowest entry point. You get heated front seats, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the full safety suite, but you skip the wireless charger, moonroof, premium audio, heated steering wheel, and paddle shifters found higher up.
• Sport: This trim adds the moonroof, wireless phone charger, 10-speaker premium audio system, heated steering wheel, and paddle shifters, making it the better pick if you want a more complete daily driver without jumping to the luxury-leaning trims.
• EX-L: This is the comfort-focused choice, with leather upholstery, heated outboard rear seats, and second-row ventilation. It suits you best if rear-seat comfort and a more upscale cabin matter more than sporty extras.
• Touring: This is the top choice for buyers who want the most equipment in the 1.5-litre lineup, including ventilated front seats, 19-inch wheels, navigation, rain-sensing wipers, and a head-up display.
• Sport 2.0: This is the better pick if you want the stronger 2.0-litre engine and a more engaging drive, while still keeping the Sport trim’s equipment mix.
• Touring 2.0: This is the most powerful and most fully equipped Accord here, pairing the 2.0-litre engine with the Touring’s premium features for buyers who want the top-spec experience.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up trims for the core safety package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Accord?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 27.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 125 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.24% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $24,783 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Honda Accord's resale value?

The current average of $24,887 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,038 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the softer pricing means you may need to be more competitive on condition, mileage, and trim to stand out.

The Accord’s strong reputation for comfort, efficiency, and technology should still support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment. Higher-spec trims and cleaner service histories are likely to hold buyer interest better than stripped-down versions.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Honda Accord safe?

The 2021 Honda Accord earns the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every Accord comes standard with Honda Sensing, including lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Standard vehicle stability assist, traction control, a rearview camera, LED daytime running lights, and traffic sign recognition add to the safety package.

The standard front crash prevention system earned the IIHS Superior rating for vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian crash avoidance. There are no trim-level safety gaps called out in the equipment list, so the core protection story is strong across the lineup.

Should I buy a 2021 Honda Accord or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 27.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.24% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Honda refined the Accord’s features list and made safety a priority for this model year.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $22,396 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $24,887 CAD average.
• It offers a polished feel, strong driving dynamics, and a huge back seat.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the better pick if you want the fresher feature set, strong safety credentials, and a model year that still looks well-priced relative to its recent history. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2020 is the smarter value play, especially if you find one in good condition with the equipment you want.
