Why it stands out
The 2021 Honda Accord stands out as a mid-size sedan that aims for a more elevated feel without losing the broad appeal that has made it popular. Honda refined the Accord’s features list for this model year and priced it to compete against other heavyweights in the industry. Safety was also a priority in the 2021 Accord, and that focus helped this fresh version earn high praise.
For buyers, the appeal is in the blend of polish, value, and confidence. The available owner feedback points to strong performance, a luxurious-feeling cabin, good gas mileage, modern styling, and up-to-date technology. At the same time, some drivers felt the pricing was high for the features offered, and others noted that it is not the fastest model available.

I think the car has all features that I needed . Because of the low miles and condition I think it was great value. Only thing it was missing was a sunroof . the most similar options are the camry xse and bmw 3 Series.

My second Accord, this was to replace a 2018 that was totaled in an accident. I've driven a Camry, K5, Buick Regal, Altima, and several other sedans and this is the best built in a world with fewer and fewer available

Is the 2021 Honda Accord a good car?
Yes — the 2021 Honda Accord earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 9.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10. Drivers consistently praise its performance, luxurious features, good gas mileage, modern styling, and technology, while the overview points to a polished, well-rounded sedan with a more premium edge. If you want a mainstream mid-size sedan that balances everyday usability with a more elevated feel, this model year fits that brief well. With 21.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s also a decent amount of market value to work with.
Is the 2021 Honda Accord reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. User feedback points to a car that feels dependable, with praise for its good gas mileage, strong performance, and modern features supporting confidence over time. The expert assessment also highlights a refined, well-rounded package that should hold up well for daily use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is paying too much for a car that some shoppers felt was priced high for the equipment offered.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Accord?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SE, Sport, EX-L, and Touring trims differ most in comfort and convenience, with the base SE missing items such as the wireless phone charger, moonroof, 10-speaker premium audio system, heated steering wheel, and paddle shifters. The EX-L adds leather upholstery, heated outboard rear seats, and second-row ventilation, while Touring brings back 19-inch wheels and adds ventilated front seats and more tech.
- Powertrain: You get a 192-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder with a CVT on the SE, Sport, EX-L, and Touring, while Sport 2.0 and Touring 2.0 use a 2.0-litre turbo-four with a 10-speed automatic and more power. Both engines run on regular unleaded fuel, and the smaller engine is the more efficient choice.
- Safety package: Every Accord includes Honda Sensing, with lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning and collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. The standard safety suite is broad even on lower trims.
- Infotainment: Every trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen with physical volume and tuning knobs, plus Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, hands-free text messaging, and two USB ports. Higher trims add satellite radio, HD radio, a wireless phone charger, a 10-speaker premium audio system, an extra USB port, and a Wi-Fi hot spot.
- Fuel efficiency: The 1.5-litre engine is rated at 7.2 L/100 km combined in the SE and EX-L, and 7.5 L/100 km combined in the Sport and Touring. The 2.0-litre engine is rated at 9.1 L/100 km combined.
Which 2021 Honda Accord trim should I buy?
The 2021 Honda Accord is offered in 6 trim levels: SE, Sport, EX-L, Touring, Sport 2.0, and Touring 2.0.
Here's the short version:
- SE: This is the value-focused choice if you want the Accord’s core strengths without paying for extras. You still get heated front seats, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the full safety suite, making it the best-value trim for many shoppers.
- Sport: Choose this if you want a more complete feature set, including the moonroof, wireless phone charger, 10-speaker premium audio system, heated steering wheel, and paddle shifters. It adds a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the top trims.
- EX-L: This is the comfort pick, adding leather upholstery, heated outboard rear seats, and second-row ventilation. It suits you best if rear-seat comfort and a more premium cabin matter most.
- Touring: This is the most luxurious standard-engine trim, with 19-inch wheels, ventilated front seats, and the most advanced tech in the lineup. It’s the right fit if you want the most upscale Accord without moving to the 2.0-litre models.
- Sport 2.0: Pick this if you want the stronger 2.0-litre turbo engine and still want the Sport trim’s equipment. It’s the more engaging choice for drivers who care about power.
- Touring 2.0: This is the top performance-and-luxury combination, pairing the stronger engine with the Touring trim’s equipment. It’s the most complete Accord if you want both power and features.
Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, so even the lower trims are well covered on safety.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Accord?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 21.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 128 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.44% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $24,768 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Honda Accord's resale value?
The current average of $25,085 CAD sits slightly below last year's $27,398 CAD.
That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices stay under pressure. If you own one for several years, the current trend suggests resale value may depend heavily on condition, trim, and equipment. Well-equipped examples should remain easier to move than stripped-down ones, especially if they are priced near the market average.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Honda Accord safe?
The 2021 Honda Accord earns the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Every Accord comes standard with vehicle stability assist with traction control, brake assists, a rearview camera, LED daytime running lights, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Honda Sensing is also standard, bringing lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning and collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. The standard front crash prevention system also earned the IIHS Superior rating for vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian crash avoidance.
Should I buy a 2021 Honda Accord or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 21.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.44% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Honda refined the features list and made safety a priority for this model year.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $21,972 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $25,085 CAD average.
- It offers a polished, spacious, tech-friendly family-sedan package.
The bottom line: Choose the 2021 if you want the newer, better-equipped version and are comfortable paying closer to market average. If your priority is saving money, the 2020 is the smarter value play.
How does the 2021 Honda Accord compare to the 2021 Toyota Camry?
Our experts score the 2021 Honda Accord 9.2/10 and the 2021 Toyota Camry 7.8/10. The Accord comes across as the more polished and better-equipped sedan, while the Camry has a lower average used price and a slightly higher share of good and great deals. If you want the stronger all-around package, the Accord is the better pick; if price matters most, the Camry deserves a look.
