Used 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 for Sale nearOshawa, ON

How much does the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 13.50% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 592 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.9/5, and the expert rating is 5.67/10. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its luxurious features, exceptional engine performance, advanced technology, and comfortable interior. For you, that means the Sierra 1500 makes the most sense if you want a full-size pickup with a more premium feel and strong capability rather than a stripped-down work truck. The model’s appeal is especially clear if you value a refined cabin, useful tech, and a truck that feels well equipped for daily use.

Only 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market still rewards careful shopping.

Is the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Reviewers describe it as dependable, with a reputation for strong ownership satisfaction and a truck that many feel they can count on. The expert evaluation also points to a powertrain that performs smoothly and confidently, which supports the impression of solid day-to-day durability. The Duramax diesel is presented as the most cost-effective engine choice, and the source notes that the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Sierra can be expensive to equip the way you want, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 GMC Sierra 1500?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sierra’s appeal changes a lot by trim, with the Denali bringing the upscale focus and the AT4 adding rugged hardware and a more off-road-oriented setup. The base versions are much more basic, while higher trims can add the features many buyers expect in a premium truck.
• Powertrain: The Duramax 3.0-litre turbodiesel six-cylinder is highlighted as the best value, with strong torque and good fuel economy. It is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and the truck also offers 4WD operation with rear-wheel drive, 4-Hi, and 4-Lo modes.
• Safety package: Forward collision warning, front pedestrian braking, and automatic emergency braking are available, while blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning come on the Denali and are optional on other trims. Lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and a Safety Alert Seat are also available depending on trim.
• Infotainment: You can get either a 7-inch or 8-inch touchscreen, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard. Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot are also included, while navigation remains optional.
• Fuel efficiency: The Duramax diesel returned an observed 11.1 L/100 km, and the official combined rating is 9.1 L/100 km.

Which 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in 3 trim levels: Elevation, AT4, Denali.

Here's the short version:

• Elevation: This is the trim most buyers should strongly consider if you want to keep costs under control while still getting a custom appearance and room to add options. It is the best-value starting point if you want flexibility without jumping straight into the pricier trims.
• AT4: Choose this if you want the rugged, off-road-focused version with the factory suspension lift, skid plates, locking rear differential, and all-terrain character. It suits you best if you want capability and a more adventurous look.
• Denali: Pick this if you want the most upscale presentation, with the premium styling and the strongest luxury lean in the lineup. It is the trim for you if comfort and image matter most.

The Denali includes blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning, while those features are optional on other trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 GMC Sierra 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right truck.

• Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 592 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.50% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $39,770 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $39,770 CAD sits slightly below last year's $45,975 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help future sellers if they bought before the recent softening. If you own one now, the current pricing environment means you may need to be realistic when setting an asking price, especially if your truck lacks desirable equipment or has higher mileage. Well-equipped examples with the right powertrain and trim should still draw attention, but the broader trend favours buyers more than sellers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star protection levels for the driver and front passenger in the frontal-impact test. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rates its front-passenger small-overlap frontal protection as Marginal, its headlights as Poor, and its LATCH anchors as Marginal for accessibility.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Forward collision warning, front pedestrian braking, and automatic emergency braking are available, while blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning come on the Denali and are optional on other trims. Lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and a Safety Alert Seat are also available depending on trim. The main caveat is that the crash-test results are weaker than you would want from a premium-branded truck.

Should I buy a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.50% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It stands out for its distinctive styling and optional carbon-fibre composite cargo bed.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $47,500 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $39,770 CAD average.
• It brings a significant makeover with a bolder exterior, a more lavish interior, and standard high-end technology.

The 2021 is the better pick if you want a lower entry price and a truck that still feels distinctive. If you can stretch your budget and want the more thoroughly updated package, the 2022 is the stronger upgrade path.
