How much does the 2021 Ford F-150 cost?

Prices have softened 10.87% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,569 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Ford F-150 a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Ford F-150 earns a 4.84/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its powerful performance, modern technology, and excellent ride comfort. They also like its versatility and the fuel efficiency of the smaller engines, which fits a truck that’s meant to work as a commuter, family vehicle, and workhorse. Ford’s redesign adds a revamped interior and the new Sync 4 system, so the truck feels meaningfully updated without losing the familiar full-size pickup formula.

Only 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market still rewards careful shopping.

Is the 2021 Ford F-150 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.84/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels powerful, comfortable, and versatile enough to count on for a wide range of uses. The expert notes also support that impression, with good road manners and a powertrain lineup that covers everything from basic work duty to hybrid efficiency and heavy towing. Ford’s warranty coverage is about average for the segment, which is worth keeping in mind if you plan to keep the truck for the long haul.

For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about outright weakness and more about choosing the right configuration and checking that the truck’s equipment matches your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Ford F-150?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base XL and next-step XLT are described as spartan, while higher trims such as King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited are much more luxurious. If you want the best-value balance of comfort and equipment, the mid-to-upper trims are worth a close look.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 3.3-litre V6, 5.0-litre V8, 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6, 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6, Power Stroke 3.0-litre turbodiesel V6, and the PowerBoost hybrid. The hybrid is the most powerful option, but it is not the best choice if maximum towing is your priority.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high beams. Lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, hill-descent control, and intersection assist are available, and some trims require extra cost for certain features.
• Infotainment: Sync 4 brings Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and over-the-air updates. An 8-inch touchscreen is standard, while a 12-inch screen is available on higher trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The PowerBoost hybrid is rated at 9.3 L/100 km combined with rear-wheel drive and 9.8 L/100 km combined with four-wheel drive. The hybrid’s real-world efficiency advantage is modest, so it is worth comparing carefully against non-hybrid engines.

Which 2021 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2021 Ford F-150 is offered in 6 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the work-focused starting point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and plan to add only the equipment you truly need.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more everyday usability without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Lariat: Choose this if you want a stronger mix of comfort, convenience, and upscale features for daily driving.
• King Ranch: This trim leans into luxury, with leather upholstery and wood trim that make the cabin feel much more premium.
• Platinum: This is for buyers who want a more upscale truck experience and are willing to pay for it.
• Limited: This is the top-end choice if you want the most luxurious version of the lineup.

Ford’s Co-Pilot360 safety features are standard, while some additional driver-assistance features are available on certain trims for extra cost.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Ford F-150?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right truck.

• Deal availability: 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,569 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.87% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $37,081 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $37,102 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,628 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more truck for the money today, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices continue to ease. The current trend suggests the model is still in demand, just not at the same price level it held a year ago. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation compared with paying closer to the top of the range.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.84/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Ford F-150 safe?

The 2021 Ford F-150 earns a good rating from IIHS for roof strength.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard Ford Co-Pilot360 equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high beams. Available features include lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, hill-descent control, and intersection assist, though some of those features require extra cost on certain trims. BlueCruise is also planned for this generation, but it was not available at launch.

The main caveat is that full crash-test ratings from NHTSA and IIHS were not yet available when this model launched, so the safety picture is not as complete as it is for some rivals.

Should I buy a 2021 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.84/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a redesigned interior, Sync 4, and an available PowerBoost hybrid powertrain.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $31,673 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $37,102 CAD average.
• It offers an accommodating and modern interior with comfortable road manners.

The bottom line: Buy the 2021 if you want the newer tech, broader powertrain choice, and the updated cabin. If your priority is lower purchase price, the 2020 is the better value path, especially if you can live without the newer features and hybrid option.
