What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Dodge Charger?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Charger lineup spans SXT, SXT AWD, GT, GT AWD, R/T, Scat Pack, Scat Pack Widebody, and SRT Hellcat Redeye. The base SXT comes with 17-inch wheels, while higher trims add more wheel choices, wider-body styling on some versions, and more premium touches such as Nappa leather on the top trims.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 in the SXT and GT models, a 5.7-litre HEMI V8 in the R/T, a 6.4-litre HEMI V8 in Scat Pack models, and a supercharged 6.2-litre HEMI high-output V8 in the SRT Hellcat Redeye. The V6 is the most fuel-efficient choice, while the Hellcat Redeye is the most extreme.
• Safety package: Every Charger comes with brake assist, electronic stability control, hill start assist, rear park assist, rain brake support, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic headlights are available in packages, so check whether a used example has them.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes a 7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and a six-speaker audio system. Available upgrades include an 8.4-inch touchscreen, navigation, Wi-Fi hot spot, and premium audio systems.
• Fuel efficiency: The 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 is the most fuel-efficient choice for Charger buyers. The SRT Hellcat Redeye is rated at 19.0 L/100 km in the city, 11.5 L/100 km on the highway, and 15.6 L/100 km combined.

Which 2021 Dodge Charger trim should I buy?

The 2021 Dodge Charger is offered in 8 trim levels: Charger SXT, Charger SXT AWD, Charger GT, Charger GT AWD, Charger R/T, Charger Scat Pack, Charger Scat Pack Widebody, and Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye.

Here's the short version:

• Charger SXT: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Charger’s core four-door muscle-car character at the lowest price. It’s the best-value starting point if you want the look, space, and V6 power without paying for extra performance hardware.
• Charger SXT AWD: Choose this if you want the same basic package as the SXT but with all-wheel drive for added traction.
• Charger GT: This is the better-value upgrade if you want a little more equipment and presence without jumping to V8 pricing.
• Charger GT AWD: Pick this if you want the GT’s added polish plus all-wheel drive.
• Charger R/T: This is the first V8 step and the right choice if you want a stronger performance feel and the 5.7-litre HEMI.
• Charger Scat Pack: This is the best-value performance trim if you want serious speed and the 6.4-litre HEMI without going all the way to Hellcat territory.
• Charger Scat Pack Widebody: Choose this if you want the Scat Pack formula with the wider-body look and the added stance that comes with it.
• Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye: This is the top-tier choice for maximum output, and it’s the one to buy if outright performance matters more than cost.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, while advanced driver-assistance features are bundled in packages.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Dodge Charger?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 26.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 76 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.89% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,574 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Dodge Charger's resale value?

The current average of $28,631 CAD sits slightly below last year's $32,131 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can be helpful if you’re buying now but less favourable if you’re planning to sell soon. A softer market usually means future sellers may need to price more competitively to attract attention. Even so, the Charger’s strong enthusiast appeal and broad trim range can help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Dodge Charger safe?

The 2021 Dodge Charger hasn’t been crash-tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), but the structurally similar 2020 model received mostly Good crashworthiness ratings and Poor marks for headlights. For the 2021 model year, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the Charger a four-star overall safety rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every new Charger comes standard with brake assist, electronic stability control, hill start assist, rear park assist, rain brake support, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic headlights are available in packages.

Should I buy a 2021 Dodge Charger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 26.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a new track-ready variant that pushes the Hellcat V8 further.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $26,801 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $28,631 CAD average.
• It offers a spacious cabin and a wide range of powertrains.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $35,524 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $28,631 CAD average.
• It adds even more emphasis on acceleration and Widebody handling.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and enthusiast appeal, the 2021 is the strongest all-around pick. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2020 is the value play; if you want a newer-feeling muscle sedan and can spend more, the 2022 is the upgrade path.
