Is the 2021 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Malibu earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which supports its appeal as a roomy, value-focused midsize sedan. It gives you a larger, more open-feeling back seat, sleek styling, and a practical blend of space, comfort, and modern connectivity. It is also one of the more affordable ways to get a large family car, which makes it especially relevant if you want everyday usability without paying premium prices. 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2021 Malibu is described as having better reliability than the brand’s older front-drive sedans, which is encouraging if you want a used family car with a more polished reputation. Its overall package also leans practical rather than complicated, which can help keep ownership straightforward. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that safety and driver-assistance features were not uniformly standard across the line, so you should verify the equipment on any specific listing.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find value.

• Deal availability: 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 101 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 20.52% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $16,289 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $16,511 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,773 CAD.

That decline suggests the Malibu is currently in a softer pricing phase, which can be good for you as a buyer but less favourable if you're planning to sell soon. If you own one for a few years, the current market position may limit short-term upside, especially if prices continue to normalise. Still, a value-oriented sedan with broad appeal can remain easier to move than a niche vehicle when demand is steady.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 20.52% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2021 Malibu makes the most sense if you want a roomy, value-focused midsize sedan with modern connectivity and a softer used price. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby model years to see whether a similar car is listed even lower, but the 2021 is the better starting point when you want a balanced mix of space, comfort, and market value.
