Is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer earns a 4.88/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.

Drivers consistently praise its sporty look, responsive power, and driving enjoyment, and many also see it as a good value for families. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about living with the Blazer’s higher pricing and less polished cabin over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Blazer?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LT, True North, RS, and Premier trims are differentiated by styling details, with the LT and True North getting the more basic look and the RS and Premier adding more distinctive design cues. The base cabin is described as dark and unsatisfying, so you should pay close attention to interior materials and equipment if you want a more premium feel.
• Powertrain: The Blazer offers a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder in the LT and True North, while the 3.6-litre V6 is the preferred engine and comes standard on the RS and Premier. The V6 brings stronger performance and a sport-tuned suspension, brakes, and steering, while AWD is standard on higher trims and optional on LT and True North.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision alert, forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. Blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available on Premier trims, and enhanced forward emergency braking is reserved for top trims.
• Infotainment: Every Blazer gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 4G WiFi hotspot. A Plus version adds navigation with traffic, onboard apps, better voice recognition, and the ability to pair two phones at once.
• Fuel efficiency: The AWD V6 returns 12.0 L/100 km in the city, 8.7 L/100 km on the highway, and 10.5 L/100 km combined. The AWD turbo inline-four is rated at 10.6 L/100 km city, 8.0 L/100 km highway, and 9.4 L/100 km combined.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Blazer trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Blazer is offered in 4 trim levels: LT, True North, RS, Premier.

Here's the short version:

• LT: This is the entry point, and it makes the Blazer’s styling and core tech accessible without pushing you into the pricier trims. It suits you if you want the look and basic equipment at the lowest starting price, but you should expect the least upscale cabin experience.
• True North: This trim keeps the Blazer’s core formula while adding a more distinct position in the lineup. It makes sense if you want a step up from the LT without jumping all the way to the sportier or more luxurious versions.
• RS: This is the best-value choice if you want the Blazer’s strongest personality. It gets the preferred V6, sport-tuned hardware, and the most athletic character, which suits you if driving enjoyment matters most.
• Premier: This is the trim to consider if you want the most comfort and available safety content. It is the best fit if you want the most upscale Blazer experience, though the cabin still trails the segment’s best.

Blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available on Premier trims, while enhanced forward emergency braking is reserved for top trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Blazer?

It looks like a buyer’s market right now, with meaningful inventory and a decent share of well-priced listings.

• Deal availability: 41.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 83 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.76% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $25,523 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer's resale value?

The current average of $25,540 CAD sits slightly below last year's $29,961 CAD.

That decline suggests the Blazer has become more affordable for used buyers, which can make it easier to move if you price it competitively later. For a future seller, the softer market means you may need to be realistic about asking price, especially if your vehicle is not especially well equipped or has higher mileage. On the other hand, the model’s distinctive styling and strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when you go to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer safe?

The 2021 Chevrolet Blazer earns five-star ratings from NHTSA in the overall evaluation and in all three crash tests, though the front passenger scored four-star in the frontal crash and the vehicle scored four-star in the rollover test. It earns Good ratings from IIHS in all crash tests, but Marginal and Poor ratings for headlights.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward collision alert, forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and a driver’s knee airbag. Blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available on Premier trims, while enhanced forward emergency braking is limited to top trims. The Blazer does not offer a semi-automated traffic function, and it does not have rear emergency braking or GM’s inboard side airbag.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 41.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.76% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines sporty styling with strong road manners and a well-regarded tech suite.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $28,780 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $25,540 CAD average.
• It adds a more practical cargo-friendly package and is best used on pavement.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2021 if you want the better value and are comfortable trading some cabin polish for style and driving character. If you want a newer model and are willing to pay more, the 2022 is the cleaner alternative; if price matters most, the 2021 is the smarter buy.
