Is the 2021 Acura RDX a good car?

The expert drive notes also support that impression by describing the SUV as well-rounded and easy to live with, while highlighting its refined driving character and strong everyday usability.

Acura’s standard safety and performance hardware should help keep ownership confidence high, but used buyers should still watch for signs of wear in the infotainment and audio systems.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Acura RDX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim gives you the core RDX package, but it does not include blind-spot warning or rear cross-traffic alert. The Tech trim adds those features, while the A-Spec focuses on sportier styling and interior details. The Elite and Platinum Elite trims add more upscale equipment, with the Platinum Elite sitting at the top of the range.
• Powertrain: Every 2021 RDX uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 272 horsepower and a 10-speed automatic transmission. Standard SH-AWD helps sharpen handling and adds year-round confidence.
• Safety package: Acura’s safety suite includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. Blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert are not standard on the base trim and require at least the Tech trim.
• Infotainment: The RDX uses Acura’s True Touchpad Interface with a non-touchscreen setup, plus standard satellite radio, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi tethering. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not mentioned in the provided data.
• Fuel efficiency: Fuel-consumption figures are not stated in the provided data.

Which 2021 Acura RDX trim should I buy?

The 2021 Acura RDX is offered in 5 trim levels: Base, Tech, A-Spec, Elite, Platinum Elite.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the entry point, but it leaves out blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert. It makes sense only if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable with the simpler safety equipment.
• Tech: This is the best-value trim because it adds the missing blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert while keeping the core RDX strengths intact.
• A-Spec: Choose this if you want the sportiest look and a more distinctive cabin, including sport seats, red accents, and unique trim details.
• Elite: This trim adds a more upscale feel and sits below the top model, making it a good choice if you want more luxury without going all the way to the range topper.
• Platinum Elite: Pick this if you want the most fully equipped RDX, including the highest level of comfort and convenience features described in the data.

The Tech trim is the one most shoppers should target, since it closes the key safety gap without pushing you into the pricier upper trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Acura RDX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 165 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.54% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $32,681 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Acura RDX's resale value?

The current average of $32,681 CAD sits slightly below last year's $35,734 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can make future resale a little more competitive for sellers. If you buy now, you may benefit from the lower entry price, but you should also expect resale values to reflect the same cooling trend if the market stays soft.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Acura RDX safe?

The 2021 Acura RDX earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS and five-star overall ratings from NHTSA. It earns four-star ratings in frontal-impact and rollover resistance crash tests from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Acura equips every RDX with adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. Blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert are not standard on the base trim and require at least the Tech trim.

The main caveat is that the base model leaves out two useful safety features, so you should pay close attention to trim level if safety equipment matters most to you.

Should I buy a 2021 Acura RDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.54% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines strong value, sporty driving character, and a well-rounded luxury feel.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $29,757 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $32,681 CAD average.
• It offers strong value with plenty of space and safety tech.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $37,912 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $32,681 CAD average.
• It adds fresh styling, a quieter cabin, and refined ride and handling.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, satisfaction, and overall capability, the 2021 is the sweet spot. If your priority is saving money, the 2020 is the better value play. If you want newer updates and are willing to pay more, the 2022 is worth a look.
