This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right example.

• Deal availability: 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 76 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.84% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $30,413 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Volvo XC90's resale value?

The current average of $30,413 CAD sits slightly below last year's $38,910 CAD.

That price movement suggests the XC90 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you purchase near the current average or below it, you may have less downside left than a buyer who paid closer to last year’s higher market level. Strong demand for well-equipped, family-friendly luxury SUVs can also help support values when the vehicle is kept in good condition.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.62/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Volvo XC90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.84% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.62/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $35,397 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $30,413 CAD average.
• It adds newly standard tech features.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the better value if you want a well-liked XC90 at a lower entry price, especially with current pricing well below last year’s level. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year and a few added tech updates, the 2021 is the secondary path to consider.
