Used 2020 Toyota Tacoma for Sale nearVictoria, BC

How much does the 2020 Toyota Tacoma cost?

Prices have softened 6.13% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 177 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for used shoppers.

Is the 2020 Toyota Tacoma a good car?

Generally — the 2020 Toyota Tacoma earns 4.32/5 from owners and 7.5/10 from our experts. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.

Drivers repeatedly praise its reliability, performance, and design, and many also value its practicality and strong off-road capabilities. On the other hand, some owners note that pricing can feel high and that features such as heated seats and navigation may be missing.

The Tacoma fits best if you want a midsize pickup with capability and a clear off-road focus rather than a polished, modern feel. Its rough edges are part of the package, but so is its appeal.

Good and great deals account for 25.4% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Toyota Tacoma reliable?

Owners rate it 4.32/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as reliable and practical, with a reputation for dependable ownership and trouble-free use. The expert assessment also points to a truck that is built around capability and dependable off-road features, which supports the case for long-term confidence.

Toyota’s maintenance coverage adds a small ownership perk, with the first scheduled maintenance visit included.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about living with the Tacoma’s rougher edges and higher running costs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Toyota Tacoma?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tacoma’s trims range from work-focused to off-road oriented, and the base setup is the least equipped. Higher trims add more visual polish and capability, while the TRD Pro stands out with its off-road hardware and more aggressive appearance.
• Powertrain: In Canada, the 3.5-litre V6 is standard, with 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic is standard, while a six-speed manual is optional on TRD Sport, Off-Road, and Pro models.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense is standard and includes forward-emergency braking with pedestrian detection and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring is optional, so check whether the truck you’re considering has it.
• Infotainment: A 7-inch touchscreen is standard, while an 8-inch unit with navigation is available. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and wireless charging is available.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 is rated at 13.0 L/100 km in the city, 10.5 L/100 km on the highway, and 11.9 L/100 km combined.

Which 2020 Toyota Tacoma trim should I buy?

The 2020 Toyota Tacoma is offered in 4 trim levels: SR, SR5, TRD Sport, and TRD Off-Road.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Tacoma’s core capability at the lowest price, but you should expect the fewest comfort and convenience features.
• SR5: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds useful everyday equipment without pushing you into the pricier off-road-focused trims.
• TRD Sport: Choose this if you want a more road-oriented Tacoma with extra style and a stronger feature set, while still keeping the truck’s standard capability.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the one to buy if you want the Tacoma’s off-road hardware and trail-ready character to be the main reason you own it.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot monitoring remains optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Toyota Tacoma?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 25.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 177 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.13% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $40,120 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

The current average of $40,120 CAD sits slightly below last year's $42,740 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future sellers may face a less inflated market than owners saw a year ago. If prices stay near this level, resale value should remain supported by the Tacoma’s strong reputation and steady shopper interest. The truck’s broad appeal and loyal following help keep demand from falling away too quickly.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.32/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Toyota Tacoma safe?

The 2020 Toyota Tacoma earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and side barrier and pole tests, and five-star ratings for rear passengers in NHTSA testing. It is also an IIHS Top Safety Pick, with Good ratings in five of six crash tests and an Acceptable result for the front passenger in the small overlap test.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard and includes forward-emergency braking with pedestrian detection and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring is optional.

The lower small-overlap result is the main caveat to keep in mind if safety is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2020 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 25.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.13% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.32/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It adds minor design and technology updates while keeping the Tacoma’s core capability and off-road focus.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $43,221 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $40,120 CAD average.
• It adds two special editions and standard dual-zone automatic climate control.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the smarter buy because it keeps the Tacoma formula intact at a lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year and a few extra updates, the 2021 is the alternative to watch.
