For a future seller, that means the market has already adjusted downward, so your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. If prices stay soft, you may not see a big jump in value soon, but a clean example can still hold appeal with shoppers looking for a dependable hatchback. Strong demand tends to follow vehicles that are easy to recommend and easy to live with.

Should I buy a 2020 Toyota Corolla Hatchback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 23.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.94% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $22,374 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $20,918 CAD average.
• It adds a more appealing, comfortable, and fun-to-drive character.

The bottom line: Choose the 2020 if you want the lower average price and a market with some deal potential. If you're willing to spend more for a newer model with a more engaging personality, the 2021 is the better alternative.
