Is the 2020 Subaru Impreza a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Subaru Impreza earns a 4.67/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its ride quality, handling, and fuel efficiency, and many also value the confidence that comes with standard all-wheel drive. For you, that makes it a practical fit if you want a compact car that is comfortable for everyday use and especially appealing in poor weather. Is the 2020 Subaru Impreza reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers highlighting the car’s all-wheel-drive confidence and overall ease of living with it over the long term. That kind of response suggests the Impreza has built a reputation for being a car you can count on day to day. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright reliability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and still feels fresh inside.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Subaru Impreza?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 99 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.92% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,905 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Subaru Impreza's resale value?

The current average of $17,905 CAD sits slightly below last year's $22,083 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to sell soon. If you buy at the current average, your future resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. A softer market can also mean more competition when you eventually list it, so pricing it carefully will matter.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru Impreza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2020 Impreza makes the most sense if you want the refreshed version of this generation with strong owner approval, standard all-wheel drive, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby older year may be worth a look, but the 2020 is the better pick if you want the newer updates and a strong balance of value and confidence.
