Is the 2020 RAM 3500 reliable?

The owner feedback points to a truck that many drivers find dependable for serious towing and heavy-duty use, with strong confidence in its performance over time. At the same time, some owners mention specific mechanical concerns, including the CP4 pump and the DPF filter, which can mean higher maintenance exposure on used examples. For you, that means reliability can be solid, but a careful inspection and service-history review matter more than usual on a truck built for hard work.

What is the 2020 RAM 3500's resale value?

The current average of $57,231 CAD sits slightly below last year's $58,341 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more selectively today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the truck has been maintained. Because this is a heavy-duty pickup with strong demand from buyers who need real capability, well-kept examples should still attract attention when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 RAM 3500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.90% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2020 RAM 3500 is the better choice if you want a heavy-duty truck that combines serious towing strength with a more upscale cabin and you can find one in good condition at a fair price. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby model years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of condition, service history, and asking price.
